I cant burn a dual layer disc with my pioneer burner it always fails on the second layer? And I`m not even talking about games it wont even burn a dual layer disc full of DATA

I`ve flashed it with the latest firmware 1.23,,I checked with DVDinfo and it says I cant set bitsetting on pioneer drives?

Could it be the cheap discs i`m using,,but I dont understand why it wont write dual layer +R DL discs at all, its fine with cheap single layer DVD`s? I tried nero 7 and clone CD.

Perhaps someone has any ideas?

Pioneer firmware auto sets DVD+R DL to DVD-ROM... No setting or adjusting required.
A modified firmware is required for bitsetting on DVD+R single layer.. Something like TDB 8.19, 8.26 Int.

Try with Imgburn has layer break settings... Dunno about nero haven't burned a dual layer with that?

Just exactly the same with IMGBURN, gets to exactly 50% then wont move over and burn the next layer(i get a power calibration sense error),

It sounds like a problem with the burner to me,,,damn a bad burner and a load of coasters?!

What media are you using? Try other brands and let us know how it goes.

I tried cheap mirror DVD +R DL

I just got some RIDISC DVD+R DL and I know these work I have some back-ups on them.

Before I burn a load more coasters,,,where do I specify the LAYERBREAK on IMGBURN (((please))) I`m sure this would solve the problem. I`m duplicating a dual layered disc.

I exchanged the burner and burnt with cloned CD with RIDISC and it works

In my experience, it'd be better if you get rid of the Ridisc asap and use verbatim. I've had about 40 ridisc as they seemed to be fine for a while, but the last 20 were a different dye and were terrible. Sent over half of them back. got 5 bad burns out of 7 tries. 100% on the verbs so far.

Just like to add. Get the single jewel case verbatims media code MKM001 made in singapore, I think the people may have been having trouble with printable 20 spindles and/or a burner mismatch these are made in taiwan. If anyone has had 100% success with the spindled ones advise the media code thanks !!!!
