I installed a program recently and it also installed a bunch of other spyware crap without me knowing. Now I get the Yahoo Sear as the default SEARCH page when I enter in a bad URL. How do I get the Default MS search back and get rid of Yahoo?? I'm usingthe latest browser and running Win XP Pro..

Thanks! smile.gif

Hey bro, you could fuck with the registry for a min to fix this. beerchug.gif

Here's what you do. Open regedit and head to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Software
Mikwosoft
Internet Explorer
SearchURL

On the right, double-click the 'default' item

Erase whatever is in the value field and paste this in

http://home.MS.com/access/autosearch.asp?p=%s

Thats it. smile.gif Backup the registry beforehand just incase... hey you never know cool.gif

System Restore?

hope it's just the searchURL that has been modified but i would advise cleaning out your system first..... using ad-aware/spyware busting programs etc, another way is to use RegCleaner, software at jv16.org

this would help u see what's exactly installed in your system for you to remove it manually, or do a automated registry cleaner,... it's a good freeware !

coz you'll never know what else might be in your winxp system ...spywares are hard to trace and erase.... deleting registry entries such as the simple URL default may not work completely.... the thing may just pop up again after reboot!... I had HELL last time with the SHITTY BONZIBUDDY farked up piece of thing from Kazaa

laugh.gif Yeah, it was a little fristrating looking all over, but it's good that you know how to use the registry too. They always tell me that it's the last resort because it can really screw your PC up..

brahm2
yeah, i scanned the other day for the first time and i had about 60 low risk things...
my damn sister is into those dumb "quiz your friends" things, and they are chock full of evil cookies
