So, I just got my new x-changer chip up and running with xbmc and avalaunch and evolution-x and everything and all was working great until I decided to update the OS.....because it seems that it didn't work. I did it over the network and it said it verified it and all that stuff and i didn't turn off the xbox or anything it rebooted itself as it's supposed to, but then after it rebooted it was nothing but black with a square at the bottom with the xchanger logo, and above teh square it says "Select from Menu" and below the square it says something I can't read. And, it sits there and reboots itself ever 10 seconds or so. After I manually turned it off once and back on afew minutes later, it has the old background, but still with the different format with the squares at the bottom. I can't navigate or do anything. Do I have any hope? Is there anyway I can flash the OS again or go back to the old one, or do I have no choice but to send it in???

Also...the team xchanger site has been down for a while...they're not out of business or anything are they.....If so, i'm REALLY screwed. grr.gif

By the way, I used the 1.4b OS off of xbins

What version of the chip do you have ? If you have the older 2.2 then you can do the following if you already flashed the BIOS (and it was working) Add an extra wire and start the machine, boot evox, flash the OS as it were a BIOS file. (make sure you use the proper OS, otherwise your chip will be totally dead) Then the chip should start with the OS, and you can flash the other bank with a real bios file.

I think you can only update the bios via network and the OS has to be via CD

Very true. Actually we do not exactly know what content he flashed to which bank and what's in the other bank now. Quite hard to say anything knowing so little info.

There was an option in mine to flash the OS via the network. The chip is version 2.5. I had already flashed the bios succesfully, with the M8 in the 256k bank and X2 in the 516 or whatever size it is. Can you do the extra wire thing with a 2.5?? And also, how do I get into evox if I can't navigate to select a bios to launch?

Thanks for the info, now chances are great that you can recover your modchip. The extra wire trick can be used on the 2.5 version aswell.
If you add the extra wire, there will be NO menu, but the Xbox will boot the flashed bios directly. As said, this way you can load evox, and reflash the bank with the proper OS, then start the machine and the OS will start and you can reflash the banks with anything you just wish...
