I have flashed a few hitachis and they were really easy. The samsung drive does not seem to be as easy since I don't see any windows flash utilities. I have an Asus-A8n SLI with Nforce4 chipset and I also have the xecuter connection kit. I don't have a USB flashcard but I do have a floppy drive. What will be the easiest method to flash a samsung drive?

get the extreme package and format a boot floppy then add mtkflash to it and the xtreme.bin and the xtrm0800.bin
then when in dos boot the disk then type A:/mtkflash r /m orig.bin to copy the orig fw
after you get the fw boot to windows and the orig.bin file in drive a and reasave it again then youu need to patch the drive key to the sammy xtreme.bin using a hex editor or using kdx but if you read the tut's like your supposed to you would not need help there are plenty of good reading to do in realeases and guides above in the stickys

Basically:
Create a bootable floppy
Copy mtkflash to it
Connect 360 to PC
Read firmware from drive (ensure valid firmware and backup to several places)
Inject 4000-42000 into xtreme20.bin
Flash modified firmware to drive

This is only so the drive reads in windows. So you can backup games.

If you flash with xtreme 2.0 firmware then you don't have to reflash to put the drive into 0800 mode. You simply insert a disc.

The Samsung was always better for reading different media, but was a bit harder to flash. The Hitachi is supposed a lot better than it once was with the latest firmware hack. Also you don't have to put a Sammy into mode b so that's another plus.

Dont forget to use the NF4 version of MTKFLash or it wont detect the drive...

Autoflasher worked fine for me. MSI865PE with ICH5 using a usb disc to boot. Should be no different for a floppy - just have to be selective about which files to put on the floppy based on limited size.
