Hi ive just baught a brand new seagate 300gb external hard drive and i was wonderin if i could use it with my xbox somehow but i want to use it totally externaly is dere a way? thanks plz reply

I think (but not quite sure) external hard drives use usb connection. If so, buy a USB-XBOX adapter with the usb side as an A Female and Xbox side as an A Male. Plug in your hard drive and wait for a moment for the xbox to format the drive. You won't be told when it's done so you have to check the memory screen here and then. It should be in the controller section in the memory screen.

By the way I'm just guessing and using the steps for a normal flash drive. Should work though.

It's pointless to try and use an external drive, as it will ALWAYS and ONLY be recognized as a memory card.

Yeah that's kind of the point, to store saved games and stuff.

So you have 300 GB of gamesaves?

So your saying that if I wanted to buy an 80GB computer, I would have to have 80GB of software and crap?

I'm saying it's pointless to have such a large drive being used for files that aren't very big.

You'd be fine with a 256-512 MB flash drive.

Say the dude is using a modded Xbox with Linux on it. 300GB would be sweet on it instead of the crummy 8-10GB.

You think that a Halo * Map Pack is going to fit on a 256 Flash drive?

Uhhhh you do realise that you can use an external hard drive as a storage for data in Linux and Darwin on a modded xbox?

cant i backup games onto my pc and transfer them to the hd then boot them from the hd onto my xbox? because just save games is a waste of tym 4 me plus im softmodding my xbox soon will this make a difference of how the xbox is reading the external drive?

With your 300 GB external hard drive, you can only:

• Save gamesaves and other data to it
• Use it as a device transfer data between Xboxes

However, you cannot play games from the hard drive.
