hello all,
i have upgraded firmware without any problems on samsung drive but i have now in my possesion a hitachi 47dj drive and i also have the slax live cd.
my question is does the VIA VT6421 RAID Controller pci card work for this drive under linux boot. is this chipset ok for hitachi
and when i boot the linux it has many many text but never get a login screen at all i also have 2tb on my computer (7 hdd drives and 2 dvd burners) is there a conflit with any of this or should i disconnect my dvd drive and 7 hdd drives what gives please someone this is a cry for help.
gets stuck on hardware detection and that is it or should i boot the xbox after all is loaded what please someone give me very detaled instructions i would love to get this to go to modeb do not repeat (DO NOT WANT TO DO 2 WIRE TRICK) not my xbox dont want to brick it.

I couldn't get the VIA 6421 to work with Hitachis, ended up buying a cheap USB-SATA adapter from eBay (search for ISLB) which worked fine. I use a connectivity kit for mode B, as I only power the drive up after Windows is booted which rules out Slax.
