My roommate has a modded gen 6 that has worked fine for the last year (with the chip). It just recently has developed a problem where while watching a DVD movie it will freeze after about 10-20 minutes and the screen will go all red and occasionally flicker. Games play fine for hours.
Anyone have any idea what this may be? We checked all the solder connections and they're fine (plus games work so i doubt it's the chip). We tried multiple DVDs so it is highly unlikely that it is a scratched disk. There is no stuttering or skipping during play like what you get with a scratched disk. It just simply cuts to a red screen all of a sudden, no warning, just red screen.
ideas, suggestions?
