The following tutorial explains in detail how to remove and change the LEDs in the Talismoon fans. No soldering is required for this mod. First, you will need a few things:

1. 3mm LEDs (8)
2. Pliers
3. Something to cut the legs of the LEDs (I used scissors)

For this tutorial I am using 4 blue LEDs and 4 White LEDs. Why am I installing 4 blue LEDs if the fans already comes with them? I purchased the green Talismoon fans and changed my mind on the color I wanted after they shipped it out.

Out of the box the Talismoon fans looked to be of a high quality. Here are some pictures of the fans:

They are very easy to install. Just remove the fan shroud, disconnect the stock fans, and plug the Talismoon fans in.

Changing the LEDs on the Talismoon fans is also very easy. The LEDs come in little holes like this one:

IPB Image

There are several different methods for removing the LEDs:

1.Take your pliers and grab the white connector. Pull the pliers toward you. This pulls the LED out of its hole and you can then disconnect it.
2.Take your pliers and grab the little bit of the LED’s body that is sticking out. Pull the LED out and disconnect it from the white connector.
3.Push the LED out of it hole and then grab the newly exposed body of it and pull it out, remove the white connector.

Here are mine with the LEDs removed:

IPB Image

Now that you have the 8 stock LEDs removed all you have to do is to install your new LEDs. The people who made the fans were very nice and labeled the circuit board as shown here:

IPB Image

The silver colored wire is the – wire and the copper colored wire is the +. Connect you LEDs accordingly. You can also look at the diagram below to see the polarity of the connectors:

IPB Image

Bend the legs of the LEDs at a 90 degree angle. I tried to bend the legs relatively close to the LED (about 3-4mm away) like so:

IPB Image

Cut the legs of the LEDs to the same size as the stock ones (I’m not sure the exact length). Insert the legs into the connector and place the LED into the small hole that holds it in place. Continue this process with all 8 LEDs.

Install the fan into the console and enjoy!

Now you have your own custom Talismoon Fans with the lighting of your choice.

Nice! I still perfer to use 2 seperate fans.

wouldnt you than have to wire in resistors because if i remember correctly, my tailsmoon fan is wired in parallel (at least i imagine so... huh.gif )

Interesting. Seems simple enough. But hey man, leave some tutorials for the rest of us! tongue.gif

looks like they already have resistors.

any pics of your before and after? smile.gif
liquid-core
I will get you pics of the before and after. With the 60mm LED fans people were just de-soldering the LEDs and installing different ones. This is the same concept. Because it is such a small amount of electricity I doubt that it will do any damage to the LEDs (correct me if I'm wrong).

I dare you to do a different color led in each spot ph34r.gif

I placed the LEDs so it is blue, white, blue, white... so and so forth. It is much more notice-able in person.

Nice tut bro! While we are on the subject, are these fans any good and worth the money? Also, has anyone managed to fit two 80mm fans in the 360? muhaha.gif
liquid-core
I would say the fans are worth the money. They seem to be well made and do what they are supposed to do. As for 80mm fans, people have mounted them on the case but I'm pretty sure they haven't replaced the stock fans with them.

@ Contract: I got them from Divineo. Here is a direct link to the blue version and here is one for the green.

ATTENTION: I have discovered that there are two different Talismoon fan models, T-X3-F2 (green version) and T-X3-F1 (blue version). On T-X3-F1 the LEDs are soldered to the wire and not connected by a connector. If you want a custom color without soldering purchase the T-X3-F2 (green) model.

*EDIT* This pictures shows the soldering on the T-X3-F1(blue) model"

Has anyone done this mod with red leds?
Divineo just started selling a red led version, BUT their shipping kills if you order over .5kg
link Basically $28 for 2 led fans...
Was just wondering how it looked in action. thx

How many people have used this tutorial? Also, I'm curious to see pictures of the modded Talismoon fans. Please posts pics of your modded fans.

I got mine from ebay for about £9.99 including P&P. I had to move the one led as it was positioned too close to the top of the fans & so the fans wouldn't fit into the case properly. After a few weeks the led connectors on the bottom of the fans shorted my 360 & I had to bend the connectors with some pliers & tape up the shielding metal. Other than that they are great.
BecomethemonsteR
I guess I have the new model with the soldered leds. My box also says "Cool out your Console". Is there an easy way to swap the leds out? also, can I install them little plugs?
liquid-core
Did you order the green or blue ones? As far as I know only the green ones have the connectors. You can still do this mod but it will require soldering. I mentioned in the tutorial which color wire is + and which is - (don't remember off the top of my head which one is which). You probably could install the plugs but you have to find them.

I ordered blue. sad.gif Now, the gold is most likely positive and silver negative. I know it works that way on speakers...

Make a switch..Or buy a switch and solder it.
When i get mine i'm gonna solder a switch on it, and mount it on the case so i can choose. Or just cut the cables. I don't want the leds tongue.gif

Never thought of that. Its good as you only get a choice of 3 colors when buying the Whisper Fan. Blue, Green & Red. I will keep this in mind if i ever want a different color. smile.gif

Looks great Sick. Is that the case that you told me about? If so I am honored that you followed my tut.

O'Malley
sicknasty413
Yup!

That's goin' in the case. But..the case and I had a little fight. I was painting the right side panel..and i go to pick it up after it's been freshly painted (too move it into the sun light)..and out of no where.. I swear to god Bill Gates sends his ghostly minions to push the right side panel outta my hand..I'm serious. It goes flying and lands upside down and slides like 5ft across my rocky-ass driveway. ::sigh:: After that little mishap, I go inside and ponder what to do. I come outside like 10-20min later..and low-an-behold; it rained. So now my other 2 peices [of the case] are ruined.

So yeah..things aren't going to well. But, on the good side she is out of the hospital now and resides in her house resting peacefully.
liquid-core
Really glad to hear she is doing better smile.gif. Hope your next try with the case goes better happy.gif.
