Ok, heres what I have, couldnt be more frustrated...

Hitachi 47dj with garyopa2.1
Pioneer 111d with dangerous brothers 1.23
Memorex DVD+R DL

I followed Garyopa's instructions to the letter.
I got the drive in mode B
Ripped the security sector with GETSS.exe
Ran Isobuster and filled out data correctly
-Inserted disc, right clicked the topmost item on the expanded list on the left, clicked extract from-to, typed
the number and clicked the right box. The number that i typed in appeared red to the right of the box.
Then when i hit start, a box came up. I hit cancel. Another box, another cancel. Then fill with zeroes, and
always use selection. It ended and asked if i still wanted to keep the file, or just delete it. I said to keep it.
Ran build360.bat
Burned with clonecd at 2-2.4

Now when I try and play my backup, it says to "Insert game into 360 console"

Theres 3 things that i think could possibly be the problem. Either
1. These hitachi drives arent extracting SS files
2. I messed up Isobuster somehow
3. My media is no good. Even if it isnt, something tells me theres more than just that wrong.

Help!
ILLusions0fGrander
maybe the mix of the memorex media and hitatchi is causing it.

you try verbs? do originals boot?
itismejoshd
I have not tried verbatums, but my originals do boot. But would my choice in media result in the "Insert disc into an xbox 360 console" screen?
WinbonD
i bet on errors extracting the SS and the iso ,

your memorex media is probably ritek D01 001 , which works fine with 111d and the hitachi drive
maxpower2001
Hi i have had the exact same problems as you and i know exactly what you're going through.

I have a hitachi 46dh. I think you're absolutely correct in thinking that these hitachi drives arent extracting SS files correctly... well i mean getss.exe isn't doing it properly anyways. When i use getss i get about half successful challenge/responses and the other half are unsupported. The ss.bin is created anyways... but believe me it isn't a valid ss.bin.

I also think Isobuster isn't extracting the game data correctly either. Isobuster only sees the first 6mb of data and then fills the rest of the 7gb's with 0's.

Your memorex discs are okay though. My drive reads them just fine.

The problem is with getss.exe and isobuster in combination with hitachi drives. At least that is my opinion anyways. If others have been successfull with getss.exe, isobuster and hitachi drives then congratulations to you. I'm glad you got it working. If I had a choice i'd use getss and isobuster too because it's a lot easier, but it just doesn't work with my hitachi drive. I've had nothing but problems.

If you use Drive Tools to get the ss.bin, wxripper method for extracting the game data, SS Merger 1.6 to merge ss.bin and game.iso, and clonecd to burn the image then everything works perfect.

Here's my setup: Hitachi 46DH, Pioneer 111d with factory firmware (v1.19), Memorex DL DVD+R 2.4x discs.

Here's the link to Metaphaze's guide to rip using WxRipper:

I hope i've been helpful. If you have any questions please ask because i'll be glad to answer.

You couldnt have been any more helpful. This information is the very stuff that I have been searching for for the past week. You have just cleared up any question Ive had. My hats off to you.

The Hitachi doesnt rip right with garyopa's package!!!!! Boo.
itismejoshd
ok maxpower2001, I took apart my brand new pioneer 111d just for you. And I ran wxripper. It seemed to work, but then ran into an error in the middle of:

copy 0 19418 done
dummy 19418 1072 done
copy 12930891283010938200... done
copy This one!
Jump 120983092 done
copy And This one!
Jump 09213809 0 done

In the middle of the ones that didnt complete, the laser started skipping around as if looking for something. The file ended up being 3.45 gigabites. So obviously it didnt work. But I decided to still burn it, just for kicks. It didnt work. Nothing happened, it didnt even seem to recognize it as a disc.
I think the problem is with the disc I ripped, there is a circular scratch on it where my buddy lifted the 360 while i was playing it...yea, so that MAY just be the problem. It cant read past the damaged disc, then moves on to the next step in the ripping process.
Any insight?

Or it could be the shite media that you are using. As has been said before Memorex (Ritek D01) IS NOT good media. It has proven to be quite inconsistant and it seems that every other person who uses them has nothing but bad experiences. This isn't just true for XBOX 360 applications but for all applications. I think you are working on fixing that though. wink.gif

You're not supposed to burn it yet if you get crc errors. After the rip is complete and there are crc errors, you have to save the layout and change it. Do exactly what metaphaze's guide tells you to do in the crc errors section. Also what movie did you use to get the magic number? Make sure the movie is larger than 7.4GB. For some games the movie has to be 8GB. The reason i ask is because your numbers look a whole lot different than mine. Try movie that is at least 7.4GB. I used Gladiator for my movie. After you get the magic number the main window should populate with a bunch of numbers that look like this:

IPB Image

Now you should take the movie out and put the game in(do it the way metaphaze tells you to do it). If you have errors after the dump you should save the layout and open it up in notepad and you should see something like this:

C19408
D1072
C109344
C1783936
J309536
C1783936
J0

Try changing the third line from C109344 to D109344 and save it. Open the layout in wxripper and try dumping the game again. If you still have errors then read further in the crc errors section in metaphaze's guide.

Another note: Try using a game disc that isn't scratched. The reason you're getting errors may be because of the scratches.

Ok, first thing: I started making up numbers. Im sure ours are similar, except where I noted with THIS ONE!. I just got lazy. Umm, also, im using zoolander, which is 7.55 gig. Ill try another game that isnt so scratched. This one is RIDICULOUS. Im surprised the original works at all.

Also, should the magic number always be 309536...or whatever the image shows?

I think the magic number is different for each movie.
deadsexyfat
yeah it is
itismejoshd
So have I done everything correctly, just not used a good original (SCRATCHED)?
itismejoshd
Was everything correct then, just the bad original 360 disc?
maxpower2001
yes i think everything else is correct. just use a good original game disc and change the layout file and try extracting. When wxripper is finished ripping you should have a file that is a little over 7gb.
