Ive been skimming the v41 tutorial, and I get many parts but this part get I don't get.
Hitachi Flashing with Hitachi-LG Firmware v2.1:
The autoflasher is the best way to flash the Hitachi as it does not require you to copy the key across using KDX or hex editor. It patches the firmware around the key.
Also everything is in one auto-detecting batch control, no more bricked drives, due to flashing the wrong FW to the wrong version of drive, and updating does not start unless a BACKUP has been correctly stored and checked and it will reflash automatically until it is correct!
Even better, you can get to modeb easily by turning the 360 on with the drive tray open.
Also, if when booting a backup game and the dashboard displays OPEN TRAY, you just need to press the EJECT button, the tray will stay CLOSED, but the dashboard will "auto-trick" into reading the game!
To Use:
Extract the files and from a cmd prompt in the right folder run FLASH21.BAT <Hitachi drive letter> <unique 4 digit number[/u]> batch file from a dos prompt specifying drive letter:
How am I suppose to get the unique 4 digit number? Did I miss something? Thanks in advance.

Just make up any number.... I used 1572. Anything 4 digit number will work..

that's great

. So once I finnished that whole section, is my 360 considered flashed? I really am not interested in patching it for stealth.

Another problem, my hitachi dvd drive is connected to my computer and I am doing the slax boot disc way. But when I turn on my computer and turn my 360 on I get the 4 red lights. Does this mean my hd cables have to be connected at tv for the whole process? What time of my computer booting do I need turn on my 360?

With the 4 flashing lights, connect your AV cable. I think it's best to leave all the cables connected until you're 360 %100 flashed. Best to be sure. Leave the hitachi on as well, that's how it's worked in my experiance. Open the 360 dvd tray if windows hangs on the winXP splash screen on boot up as well.

ok, done. Now, the flash21.bat doesn't work. I open it for 1 sec it opens, then exits? Can I manually flash the hitachi?

Lets start from the top
1.- make sure the drive is recognized by Windows
2.- open a command prompt window (start->Run->type in: CMD)
3.- go to the location of the flasher file
4.- type "flash21 <drive letter assigned to your H-LG drive> <Any 4 digit number>
Example: "C:\360>flash21 g 2687"5.- let the flasher do its thing xD
6.- if everything went ok u should see:
PASS: Flashing of XTREME firmware is 100
DONE: You can now shut-down your system!
7.- now u can start to backup your games

For making backups see this post

Last question on my mind, this autoflasher I am using for the hitachi, it's not like the defective autoflasher for samsung correct? I don't want to risk my drive on a so called risky program?

Just like the tutorial says:
Hitachi: GaryOPA v2.1 (the "autoflasher" is not buggy)
Samsung: Xtreme 3 X360SAM/Manual method

Ok thanks, but now here is the problem. My friends motherboard is one of the motherboards in the slax list that is confirmed to work. However the problem is I'm booting the slax cd, my 360 is connected via sata to mobo, everything goes fine then it has trouble disabling irq #5, and keeps repeating different methods to disable it? What the hell is irq #5? We figured it was the sound card, but it's not... Help appreciated as my friend is staying oh so little time tonight.

Ok we found out the problem, talk about computer stupidness, the computer was making my 360 dvd drive act as a computer hard drive... Ackward... Anyhow it's flashed now, and my last question is, how can I check if my 360 is flashed?

So to those people, who had difficulty with slax cd, maybe related to irq #5, do one of these two things... A) In bios mode menu, make your irq setting go compatibility mode B ) We attached the dvd drive to master connection

Why do I run into problems! I am trying to extract the security sectors using the C:\>getss.exe e ss.bin.
Then I get an error f6 where the error is <sense key=00/ASC=00/ASCq=00>...
I tried googling the problem (like always) and found out that also some people at xboxhacker.net had experienced the problem but they have no legit solution to the prob. Anyone can help me on this matter?
Is this the only I can extract the security sectors?

Ok, backuped my game and my 360 hitachi can not read it by spitting out the error "open tray". I think i followed everystep of the v41 tutorial too, and I have an lg dual burner.

Is pioneer 111d the only dual layer writer that is supported for the Birty version 2_1 to make backups? Lg dual rewriters won't work???!??
