Xtreme firmware 3.1 for TS-H943 Xbox 360
Posted by Iriez | August 28 01:03 EST

Commodore4eva has released a new firmware for the TS-H943 drive...
[QUOTE]
Added Booktype overwrite patch (bitsetting to Dvdrom no longer required)

Added Media speed patch (drive treats backup same as original)

Fixed DVD Movie backup/Xbox 1 backup read bug.

Stealth Media implemeted into firmware. Backups now appear exactly as original disk regardless of which disk check command used by Xbox 360
Enable0800 mode supports extraction of raw PFI (Physical Format Information) and raw DMI (Disk Manufacturing Information)
Support for loading of extracted PFI and DMI from disk
Non-Stealth Backups automatically enhanced with embeded PFI for Xbox 360 and Xbox 1
Included new Video.iso for Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 backups, now the same as originals
Security placeholders/bad sectors for 360 backups are outside both valid psn ranges so they cannot be read/checked by 360 host

Extraction part of firmware enabled with Enable0800 DVD. ISO included.
In Enable0800 mode, allows drive to function natively under Windows without any hardware conversion/adaptors
Boots all Xtreme Xbox 360 backups
Boots all Xtreme Xbox 1 backups
Boots all Xbox 360 originals
Boots all Xbox 1 originals on Xbox 360
Use on Xbox Live at own risk

Cool just in time before I do my first firmware flash.

Good job commodore4eva!!!!

<Still on v3.0. Gonna wait for a while before updating since all is fine right now

I kind of liked the fact that a modded 360 ran quieter than an unmodded one, though I guess there would be possible performance problems in games that stream data from the drive while you play (with the old, slow firmware).
SniperKilla
flashed with this, not seeing any increase in speed?

put in ghost recon original, as soon as it verifys it, it kicks to full speed
ghost recon burn on verbatim, stays quiet, and takes much longer then the original to get to the ubisoft video

i have dumped the firmware from the drive and verified that it SHA1 hashes the same as the xtreme31.bin with my key edited in, so its def on the drive

This deserves a "Holy Fucking Shit" Rather then a " ohmy.gif "
Eric Jr.
Great,

Can anyone confirm that their backups run without the booktype setting? I have at least 10 games that won't run because of this (kept them), but I have a Hitachi!

c4e, again, respect!!! have a question though, can you hexedit mtkflash for us to make it stop looking for the correct responsecode, and flash already? (ms28)

Did I read correctly when he said that non-stealth back-ups will work like stealth ones with this firmware??

in his news story explaining what "stealth" meant, i think there may be more than one thing (technical term) being stealth.

What about reliability? If it did read at full speed....would it be less reliable reading the data or produce errors?

I am having a bit of trouble running Pro Evo 5 (xbox 1 backup). During the game it says I have a broken or dirty disc. I tried burning it on different DVD's and the same problem occurs.

I wonder if this solves the problem, especially when it says "Fixed DVD Movie backup/Xbox 1 backup read bug" in the changelog.

firmware stealthed, no bitsetting required ohmy.gif

so this is the holy grail then for samsung? what else can be improved over this?

Firmware stealth != media stealth. This is media stealth.

Firmware stealth is not implemented.

seems to me with booktype overwriting that dvd-r dl could be used? even more perhaps 4.7 gb -r? although the 4.7g disks would require another ss psn check. purely speculation, hopefully with no need to set booktype, we could get away with -r disks.

usefull for xbox1 backups yeah, but most if not all 360 games are 5+gb in data, so its not really that important.

Can anyone else confirm (or deny) SK speed observations?

Thanks C4E!

this release might be slower, i tested burnout revenge 360 version. i loaded the same race on the original it 20 sec. the xtreme 3 was 40 and now the xtreme 31 is 42 sec.

Sweet, another update! I'm just not looking forward to opening my 360 again.

Shaweet! Guess Ill be flashing again before I go to school.

Thanks for the hard work on the firmware. smile.gif After testing it I have to say though that I havnt noticed an increase in speed. I'm using verbs and they still sound realy quiet compared to an original disc. I had problems with burnout revenge skipping during the intro and they are still present

someone already said the games are mostly in the 5+ gb range meaning a single layer disk is out of the question, but apart from bitsetting we need a custom layer break, -r DL dont support custom layer breaks, also on the bitsetting line is this a new feature? i have several disks which i fucked up and wouldnt run on my xtrm version1.2 firmware (killed my xbox 360 before the updates after that came out) due to not being bitset, but these games would play on my mates sammy and this was back at xtrm version1.

Ok ive got the 2.0fw for the mo, with no probs. If i were to use this new fw hack do i need to reburn my backups to work on this???

no your existing backups will work fine just new backups will benefit from the new features
JonesyBoy
Tested a few more games and there is a slight improvement actually. The boxers appear faster on fight nigth round three for example. Its not much of an improvement but it is there biggrin.gif
I'm using a nec 3500 as my burner so I think I change to the poineer it may be even more noticable tongue.gif
KUNFUCHOPSTICKS
awesome, keep up the good work!
casper7526
how did you people download it so quickly......i can't even find it
C-5
sad.gif I am also not seeing any speed improvement. Originals still spin and read much faster.

The cinemas on my backup of LOTR BRME2 still skip terribly... my original plays fine.

Usual places. wink.gif
Zigic1980
Does that mean that I can use any burner now and forget bitsetting?
I got a Samsung with a v3.0 and nevertheless some games only work burned with a pioneer.
e.g. top spin 2

Regarding speed improvements?
I am lucky enough to own 3 360's at the moment (ones up for sale though).
Have tested this with both my toshibas:xtreme 3.0 and xtreme 3.1,and then my hitachi.
Tests done using a backup of MotoGP06:time taken in secs from disc insertion to screen saying"Press Start"/time taken in total after pressing start,to get to main menu screen.
Xtreme 3.0 40.08 and 65.74
Xtreme 3.1 40.98 and 66.93
Hitachi 32.32 and 45.74
RESULT:It might be noisy but don't think i'll be getting rid of the Hitachi any time soon smile.gif

They will be a little stealthy.

I'm still new, so forgive any stupid comments/question.

I have a Hitachi drive. I have yet to flash it and I am still reading up on how to do it. My understanding, after getting this, was that it was for the Toshiba Samsung. This isn't used for the Hitachi, right? I need to find the latest firmware for the Hitachi, right?
Firf
So what I am hearing here is:

1) If you don't have issues with DVD booktype settings and;
2) speed of the drive transfer speed is not an issue for you,

Then there is no reason to update yet?

Also, once at v3.0, could you simply use option #2 on the autoupdater to update it?

I guess my point is, I would think there would be a simple way to update the firmware without even having to pull out your old originial firmware, right?

P.S. I have another Xbox 360 with a bad mobo (my fault), but the DVD drive and other components are fine... do you think there is a market on ebay for parts (or should I simply right it off as $275 for an extra controller, A/C, Video cables and Samsung DVD (needs to be reflashed) as I had to get a new Core system - luckily there was a $15.00 coupon to reduce the pain a bit...)?

Yes you need different firmware for the Hitachi.I was simply comparing speeds in my post.
Seems the Hitachi is the only drive that truely boots backups at full speed.

I guess I'm going to have to open up my system AGAIN jester.gif

Anyway You fucking rock Commodore4eva FUCKING ROCK!!!!

People I showed are like "Rob your amazing"

We should all be bowing down to the real modders out there, the people writing the firmware.

What does that mean?

From waht I can gather it will have all the stealth media checks covered. But I am in way over my head.

This is just great news things get better all the time, I'm just waiting for my connectivity kits and Sata to USB adapter to apply this or GaryOPA's firmware hack,

Anyways I got hold of clonecd and did'nt see anything in there to do with bitsetting, anyways that does'nt seem to be a big problem now seeing this release.

Just to clarify, some people seem to be asking if their backups will also be stealth, my understanding is that the media needs to be patched with a stealth patch as well as your firmware being stealth enabled.

Looks like the Connectivity Kit V2 will also come in handy what with the ability to update the firmware without opening the case again.
