Ever since I updated to XBMC-CVS_2006-08-27-T3CH xbmc wont play videos with "mplayer" I need to select "play using dvd player". I have tried reinstalling and no difference.

Please post a log alt. a debug log (check the m a n u a l )

We can not guess what is wrong on your end...

I checked the "m a n u a l" and can't seem to get this debug log thing. Not everyones an expert like you.
Can you just tell me what I need to do? Or could someone else please help me?

You do not need to be an expert on xbmc to search do you?

That is what I read and i held x and y at startup and nothing changed.

I just tried holding x + y on xbmc startup again about another 10 times there and i dont see any "free memory indicator in the upper left corner of the screen". Also there is no log file.

Did you try to play a movie? Becouse there is nothing in the log pointing to that...

Either you didn´t post the full log or it was cut off by max leangth on the forums.

You probably did not update properly.

The same thing happens to me. I can only play videos using dvdplayer. Every video file I've tried, avi, mpg, whatever. The same goes for online videos, so I use an old build (2006 06 06) where dvdplayer is the default. Here I installed the latest T3ch build so I could make a log. I cleared the userdata, 0face008, and x y z folders before I installed so I could do this with default settings and a near clean install.

Here's the rundown of everything I did. The first thing I did after opening xbmc is click on the video file I wanted to play. Nothing happened. Then I used the white button to play using...mplayer. still nothing. Then I played using dvdplayer and it played.

Hey, thanks for the help. I wasn't aware of the AdvancedSettings.xml before this. Thanks a lot. I tried this out with the new build released today and it worked. Whatever is different in the new build also helped with my problem viewing online videos.
