A friend of mine jsut bought his 360 last week. His seems alot quieter then mine, mine was manufactured in Feb, and his in May. Have there been any significant changes to the systems in the last few months? Thanks

I think (don't quote me on this ) but Microsoft have started to use a lower power and lower heat producing CPU so therefore the fans run slower creating less noise.

However most of the noise from the 360 comes from the DVD drive, so I guess they might have put a new one of those in too.

Were you playing a game off a disc when you noticed it was quieter? Or was it a demo downloaded from marketplace, as the DVD drive doesn't spin to play demos as they run off the HD so the noise is significantly less.

I do believe it's the new drive. I don't think they've moved on to the cooler processing method yet; wasn't it slated for something like Feb. of next year?

Prolly just the drive. Mine is always loud because I did the 12v fan mod. Im used to it and dont even hear it now.
