Ok, I don't really know a lot about modding xboxes but my friend does. He is modding my xbox (v 1.6) and says everything looks perfect except for when he boots it up, the Xbox screen comes up and then it goes black, nothing happens. He tried switching the Hard drive and putting it in his xbox and it works fine. Any suggestions as to what the problem is? If you could help out i would really appreciate it. Thanks

Is it a softmod? If it is, just boot to the MS dash and set the clock and reboot

Not enough detail here at all. We need to know chip type, box type, does it still boot the MS retail bios ok?, Did it owrk ok before? has he flashed the chip? etc etc

I know its not detailed, i'll try to find that stuff out, but I was just wondering if it was a specific problem other people have had...I know it worked before....Someone else told me that it was just a reaction from the modding and it would take a few days and then to reset it...but who knows.

I think it's the wrong bios to use for a 1.6. I'm pretty sure that the bios you're meant to use for a 1.6 is EvoxM8, not M8+. There is an Xecuter bios too, but i'm not sure which one.

Also, the first time that I modded a box with an Xecuter 2.6, I forgot to switch the bank over, and there was nothing on the bank that I was trying to boot from. Give that a go.

I don't know if this is it, but I installed this Halo 2 skin, and it would freeze my xbox upon startup and I jsut stuck my boot disc back in there and FTPed and deleted the skin. I don't know if it's a skin issue, but that randomly happened to me.

Try deleting the cache files in directories X Y Z and E:/CACHE.

1. Does the box still boot ok without the chip enabled?
2. Did the box work up until the bios flash? (Presumably so as there must have been video to flash the bios)
3. Does this guy even know what he is doing? What sort of experienced modder asks someone who has trusted him with the job, to try find the answers himself via a forum?
4. Take the box to someone who knows what they are doing

yeah he does know what he is doing. He's done tons of these before, and never had 1 problem so he had no reason to go on a forum like this...also, i'm the one who wants it done fast, so i'm trying to get him extra help while he tries to figure it out on his own...that's all.
