Got a Xbox360 2-3 days ago with Samsung drive (ms25).

I have read every guide 100 times and i still have probs and dont fully understand everything.

I need someone to take some time and really help me with this (over MSN or ICQ).

how far have you got and where are you getting stuck ?

I have stripped my xbox, connected it to my Sata and tried different things such as X360SAM 0.4 without any luck.
I really want to talk to someone step by step about it all.

I need to talk to someone who has done all things i need to do (and have a samsung of course).

Interesting how 23 people have checked the thread and only 1 have answered and not a single one have sent me PM and offered any help.

I KNOW a lot of people have done this, so please help me.

You are probably confused like the rest of us. I have tried it for days and days. I think its the chipset for my SATA though. I have 8237 PRO, not regular.

There are guides to fix that, thats were i am.

i don't have paypal but i would help you for free, if my help is useful.but to tell if it is or not you gotta provide more DETAILS.
what motherboard do you have?
what sata chipset do you have?
if its nvidia4, or you using the proper nvidia mtkflash.
did you look at the sata chipset compatibility chart, and/or edit the mtk program to match your chipset?
what did you do in dos?(word for word, line for line)

if you can provide all of that info i'd be glad to help.i'm no master, and perhaps less qualified then the majority of consistent posters here, but if your setup is similiar to mine it should be no problem.
and as much as the scene has provided numerous hacks for xbox and 360, for free, the least i could do is contribute what advise i know for free.

Both are SATA as you can see.
I have no idea how to fix that, which numbers are which and so on.

I used x360SAM and made a CD to boot with.
When i first did it the "automatic" way i got this when i should press 1-4
1. IDE Pri Master
2. IDE Sec Master

Then i tried manual and wrote what i have read, which is mtkflash /m orig.bin (or something like that, cant remember).
Same thing there, no SATA stuff.

Reason i did a CD to boot with is cause im missing my powercable for my floppydrive.

So what i need to do first is fix that SATA compability thing i guess, which i need help with

There is a special version of MTKFlash that you need for your chipset. (MTK???NF4.exe) it is usually included with any firmware packages.


I would not boot from CD, it is just going to cause you problems. Boot from a USB key or connect your floppy. (I have never seen a power supply that did not include a connection for the floppy)

Booting from a CD gives you 2 problems:

1. You have no where to write the backup firmware too as the CD is not writable.

2. I always recomend disconnecting ALL IDE devices to improve detectability of the samsung drive and to avoid accessing a CD Rom / DVD Rom drive by accident.

Well my power supply is a brand new Hiper 480W and it has no connection for the floppy.
Where are several guides saying that CD should work so it should.

You must however have read through all the forums etc and have an understanding of what is happening or at least know some of the steps. I dont want to be talking people through this from scratch!!

Dont use a cd to boot with with x360 sam as when It does the samread ####### ##### it will just hang or not start. The reason for this is because you are booting from the cd hence nowhere for x360sam to save your orig.bin to. Use a floppy or a usbpen drive and it will be fine
