Hi guys.
I tried the search function for this but nothing came up.
Basically I just got an xbox and I'm going to flash it tomorrow (Hitachi), im just wondering what the best media is? ive heard alot of people say Verbantim but this is really expensive here in the uk, like £15 for 5 discs... ($28 roughly).
Does anyone know of any other good cheaper media to work for this drive and if not, whats the best place to buy the Verbantim?
and if anyone has anyone tips before i flash my xbox tomorrow i'd appreciate it alot!
thanks

Use Verbatim they are honestly the best and worth the expense in the long run, check svp.co.uk and you can get a spindle of 10 for £16 which is very reasonable.

cheers dude.
just a few other questions before i flash my firmware as i only got my xbox360 a few days ago..
1. When, or if a new patch comes out that starts banning people of Live - will we have a chance to restore our original firmware first? (i.e Will our 360's autoupdate or does it give us an option if we want to update first)
2. Opening the 360 voids the warranty, but is there a way you can open it so MS cant tell if its been opened? (like carefully put the sticker or whatever back so they cant notice). Is this possible?
3. Is overheating really that big a problem for the 360;s? Im afraid if i flash mine and it overheats and breaks, im fucked, unless point 2 works above.
many thanks in advance, just want to be safe and know for sure before i flash!

If microsoft end up banning people from live and you're unlucky enough to get caught then it woudlnt matter if you restored the original firmware, you would still be banned. As for opening the xbox, it is fairly easy, there's plenty of tutorial and it is possible to remove the sticker so it doesn't look tampered with because I done it myself. Just blow a hairdryer over it for 10 seconds and pick at the end with a stanley blade and lift it off, it comes off in 1 piece and unscathed. If anything happens just flash original firmware and put it back together. I've had my 360 since launch and it does run quite hot but I've never had any problems suppose it's just the luck of the draw but pretty much as long as you do what was said above then it shouldn't matter.

thanks very much for the reply mate!!!
but what i meant about microsoft banning people is : dont they need to apply an update on your xbox first to see if your using hacked firmware, or can they detect it anyway without using an update so to speak?
cheers again, i think im going to flash mine for sure now. it was just voiding the warranty that put me off and overheating problems, but if theres a chance you can get away with it using that hairdryer technique then its all good i suppose

I'd also like to know if I could put the old firmware on before taking the update? So I wouldn't get banned too.
Basically if I waited acouple hours after the update checked back here saw people were getting banned, could I then put the old firmware on it once again, go online, get the update. Then flash the hacked firmware again to play burnt games?
Thanks in advance PVT

Rubbed,
Just to let you know, Im in the UK and I have been using 'Datasafe' DVD+R DL for my last couple of backups on my Hitachi and I get mine from ebay, about £18 for 10 disks
I was paying about £30 for 10 verbatims and I find the Datasafe disk work the same.

Wow you are getting screwed. If you look a few posts above it mentions that SVP carry the 10 pack Verbatims for 16 pounds including VAT. So you are actually spending more for E-net landfill material. People need to realize that 99% of media purchases off of ebay are worse than you will either find in a store or at a trusted online site.

What are verbatims?
are these any good?
http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.a...=&langid=EN and dual layered disks are required right.
