i was wondering if anyone has tried switching their ata 33 cable with an ata 100 cable. i heard it improves the hard drive transfer speeds. does anyone know if this works and if you've tried it what kind of results did you get?

the xbox ide controller is only ata33, so I doubt this would improve speeds.

It's an old bad rumor. The only thing it could improve is the quality of the cable. You won't go beyond ata33 speeds.

I dunno about the onboard controller, but I have succesfully switched the original ata33 with a ata100. (original got killed by one of the standof-thingies when I was in a hurry to put the cover back on). I haven't noticed any extreme difference.
