Hi all, first of all i did check if this drive was locable on the xbox compatability chart but i did not see it listed!

This is the hard drive i want to use/buy for my xbox. Do you guys like maxtors? also i have 80 gigs worth of games and junk that needs to be transfered to the new 200 GB hard drive. Can i connect the 2 xbox's directly and use the xbox ftp client application on both xbox's? Anyone know of a better way?

I also looked at this hard drive. Which one do you think is better? this one is for sure lockable and has 50 more gigs.... ohmy.gif

The first drive wasn't on the list because it is a SATA drive, which will not work in an Xbox without a converter. (AFAIK these aren't lockable either)

Go for the 250 GB drive.

Maxtor HDs are fine... but I prefer Seagates. Seagates have a 5 year warranty whereas most other HD manufacturers have only a 1 -3 year warranty.

I prefer Western digital, but Maxtor's would be my second choice. I have a 80gb external by WD, and a 160gb WD internal which are both almost 5 years old now, and have been through hell (external was bumped around and dropped once, the internal has been moved around from comp to comp, and even in my xbox for a little while), and neither have had one issue. Just my lil' WD story for ya wink.gif But yea, Maxtor's are pretty good, but WD's are a better choice cool.gif

Just a little note a about Western Digital HDD's: yes, they operate with ATA100, but the Xbox will (by default) only use ATA33 because of two factors: the 40 wire IDE cable and the DVD-ROM, which both limit the speed. Don't let yourself get tricked by that number. It doesn't really matter if the HDD is ATA100 or ATA133. wink.gif

While I use Maxtor drives, I have had 2 Maxtors die on me within the last two years. One in a PC and one in my Xbox (which just did on me a few days ago). I'm replacing my current (dead) Maxtor in my Xbox with a Western Digital.

If you have a Staples store close by, you can get a Maxtor 300gig for $70-80 without rebates. Saw the ad this morning.

The Samsung Spinpoint 80gb drive in one of my xboxes runs a lot quieter than the stock drives and my 160gb WD and Seagate drives
