Just want to wish all fellow Canadians* a happy thanksgiving. Eat lots and enjoy the day off.

*Before an American pipes up, even though we share the same continent, our holidays arent always on the same date.

Good one, I wish I could say the same. I got Monday off because of Columbus day, and today off for teacher meetings. What a great 3 day week this will be for me.

Columbus Day should be taken off the list of holidays. But, we should still get the day off.

From now on Columbus Day will be known as Overrated Historical Figures Day. Its a free holiday.

I think you'd better start with Martin Luther King day first then. Celebrating a man that did nothing but preach advancement of a single race under the guise of "peace", but rather spawning hate and racism is moronical. Every time we observe that holiday and "black history month" we draw the line between races and further distance one race from the other. We'd do better to skip all of that so that eventually we could see each other as "people" rather than "white" people or "black" people.

Think about how you were taught the history of the U.S. England sent the settlers over here to enrich their imports and expand their territory. The settlers nearly starved to death because they were forced to come but didn't know how to survive. We celebrate Thanksgiving because it shows they persevered the hardships and reaped the rewards. (Thanks to the native Americans who were later tortured. Thanks a lot guys. You're the REAL race who has a right to be pissed at the white man.)

We celebrate our hardships because we realize that's just what it took to get where we are today. In Black history they had to go through slavery to choke on our sweet air of freedom today. We don't celebrate it as such. We make it out to be so negative that we hate each other and can't get along because of it.

This would be where to start if we're getting rid of Holidays. Leave Columbus day alone.

Lol it's the dump. This is the "Off-topic" forum on X-S. Get used to it son. smile.gif

Edit: and actually the topic is "Thanksgiving".

Douche... this is the dump. Politics news religion, is in another sub-forum.

canadian turkey day is also known as Thanksgiving.
The original poster is canadian. Yesterday was thanksgiving.

Why would you start that racist shit in this thread?

BTW - canadian thanksgiving, has nothing to do with pilgrams. It was something to do with the monarch. Queen victoria I think. Either way the reasons are outdated, but it still has nothing to do with black people and their rights.

Why would you post a childish putdown? Let's not go down that road. I did not take the thread off topic. I followed up to a previous poster with my opinion that is perfectly fine in the dump. My post was not in any way racist. Had you read, you'd see that I would like to put racism to rest, but that doesn't help you put me down now does it? BTW I wasn't referring to Canadian thanksgiving. The topic is "Thanksgiving". Sure the OP is Canadian, good for him but the topic wandered off and I followed up to it. Don't let being wrong on the internet get you mad. Just calm down. Nobody knows who you are.

Let's keep the thread on topic and free of flaming so it can stay open...

Happy thanksgiving to the Canadians..and the Americans in a month or so.
