Hi fellas,

I have used verbs as I suppose its common knoledge they are the best for 360 backups,

I have noticed on the website I buy them off some other brands like mirror, traxdata, ri disc, datawrite to mention but a few, and some of these are nearly half the price of verbs,

Does anyone have anything to report on other brands, good or bad?

Regards

Unfortunately Verbatim really are the only true quality option. That isn't to say that others won't work but the longevity and compatibility data is really mixed so no gaurantees that it will: 1) work 2) last for as long as you want it to. The thing is that it is important not to recognize the labels but the manufacturers as they are better indicators of quality. Traxdata for example is a European Ritek affiliate so Traxdata uses the Ritek D01 media code for it's D/L DVD+R. Fujifilm and Memorex D/L DVD+R are among many other labels that carry this same media ID code. I'm not 100% sure about Mirror but I believe they are either CMC Mag or Ricoh (possibly faked Ricoh). As mentioned above the results thus far on these media ID codes are very mixed so it's really difficult to really give you an accurate picture of what to expect. Ridisc and Datawrite on the other hand are part of the accursed E-net budget media. To my knowledge you will find either Ritek D01 or the CMC Mag D/L media ID code on them, that being said E-net labels are well known for grabbing factory seconds, overprints, ect. so with these labels you are taking an even bigger gamble than you are with the others. Not only do you have to deal with manufacturers of questionable quality, you also have to deal with getting their rejects as it were. Seen the quality cycle so many times on the E-net labels that it isn't even funny. I get so sick of cleaning up after their messes. Once again though, with any of these labels it isn't that you won't get a working disc or that it is for sure that it is going to quit working in several months, but the likelihood is certainly much greater with these other media manufacturers/labels. That is why Verbatim is so heavily recommended as it is the only D/L media that has been around long enough to be tested time and time again for multiple applications, compatibility, durability, ect. and has always come out with the highest ratings in all respects. This is due to the Mitsubishi Chemicals dyes that they use on their discs that come straight from their home plant in Singapore.
