Ok this is kinda weird. Today I bought 2 new games Splinter cell and Tiger Woods07. Popped in Splinter cell and no problems. Popped in tiger (BRAND NEW GAME NOT BACKUP) and it reads please insert this disc into a xbox360 for it to play. Somthing along those lines anyway. My backups still work. Just seams a little weird to me. Im hoping its just a flakey disc, but m$ just did and update so I thought I better post.
Any Thoughts.

Finally......i saw one other guy who had the same problem as I did. "A Post in the Xbox 360 games Tiger Woods 06 forum" ...there is NO Tiger Woods 07 forum as of yet.
I actually purchased the same 2 games...SAME EXACT SCENARIO Splinter Cell.D A=FINE. Tiger Woods 07 = "To play this game please put it in a xbox 360 console!" I quickly took my copy of Tiger Woods back 2 EB games (SC)for exchange. I then went to the trouble of asking the employee to test the new/exchange copy on they're in store console, so i would'nt have to go through this again. It BOOTED fine !! I got home to play this second copy...same message ! Instantly.
I dont think this is any longer speculation......SOME companies might be putting in checksum files for firmware in the Game disc, and wrong Firmware= NO New BIG Games ! This might be the easiest way for them to get us. (I honestly thought it would have been Splinter Cell though) THINK.........GEARS OF WAR + flashed firmware= cant play(speculation). Personally i'm prepared to wait and see what happens, but if this is a sign of things to come, I'm not mad ,I saw it coming and I would Def. buy a second core console for WORRY FREE live gaming , Gears of War, and the many GEMS coming in the next few months.
P.s. I have a (launch day)0047DJ hitachi flashed 360. I haven't been back on Xbox live since the downtime either...I dont plan to either for awhile.
Any one else having problems with original copies of Tiger Woods 07 on flashed firmware ....Please speak up.

What firmware are you guys running? Im guessing 4.1 due to the fact that you havent spoken up about upgradeing

I am siding with Spanish on this. He was just pointing out a game that he has that isn't working to get a feel if others are having the same issue.

It is an EA game and EA is known for usually being the first to try and counter modders.

Strange.. A friend of mine backed up his copy of Tiger Woods 07 and it worked fine when we played it. I haven't asked him about his retail-copy though, but I think that one worked too - atleast it should (would've been strange if the backup did but the original didn't).

I am the one who posted over in the Tiger Woods 06 forum...I also cant get this game to boot either. I just get this error "To play this disc, put it in the xbox 360 console" ...I too have a launch day flashed Hitachi

maybe your laser is dying/needs to be adjusted. Read a tut on the pot if you have the ability to adjust it.

EA is known to cause problems. tiger on regular xbox doesnt work either unless you get the correct region, even though the xbox is region free. nba live doesnt work from the xbox HDD unless you trick it, though it work sfine if burned. its def a mod issue in my opinion, except this time the mod is causing the retail game to not work instead of vice versa.

I believe this is likely to be a laser read issue rather than a FW issue. Your laser is dying I believe or has popped a bit of it's operating range. I would suggest a look at the pot tweaking tutorial. We would have definitely seen a flurry of posts about this game having problems with hacked FW a long time ago (not just two people).

For the moment, I think it's safe to call it laser operating issue.

ye i think calvin is right. i wouldnt go with the pot tutorial though. try one of those plastic clip fixes or rubberband fixes first. they seem safer

Just to let everyone know, Yes we are aware of the risks of doing this fw mod and we are not bitching. This is more of a FYI type of deal. I will also take a look at the pot tweak deal see what this might do. Just seams weird that it is only on one game and right after an update from ms. I might also try flashing back to my original FW and see what becomes of this. Get back to ya later on that 1.

Yea, but you know what? In this case it really does seem like it can be because of the mod. The guy said he asked the EB employee to test it out, and it worked. But then it didn't work at home. Plus there are a few other people that are having the same problem with ONLY this game. Makes you wonder......

It sure would be nice if people would stop getting upset at this post. Heres the deal, this is a concern when a brand new game doesnt work and all others do. OK. Also I feal like M$ isnt just gonna sit back and let this type of Modding go uncontested. So MAYBE!!! Ill repeat MAYBE!!! they might try to slip us a little trojan horse. It would be clever. Anyway. I have modded my neighbors xbox360 as well. We both have the 47dh hitachi with Xtreme 1.3. Ill try the game on his in about an hour then if it doesnt work on his ill move to update FW, if that doesnt work then we go to pot tweak, if this doesnt work then its the flash of Orginal FW. Well get to the bottem of this 1 way or another.

Especially when your the only 1 having this problem many people have that same game without issues!

Same game exact same problem, for those wondering if it is the laser I assure you it is not. I have 2 xbox's at home with the same Hitachi 47 drive. One is modded one is not, this is the only game that this happens with. Works flawlessly on the unmodded 360 and boots as a DVD in the modded one. The problem seems to be that they found a flaw in the FW and exploited it, making the game boot as a dvd. I have trouble beleiving that it does anything more than that but who knows.

Just a little more conframation 4 ya's. I took the original TW07 to my neighbors (he also has a fw xtreme 1.3 flash on 47dh) and it didnt read either. So there ya have it Somthing is up. Ill try the to do a back up also and see what happens with that.

ye i am going to have to say that tiger woods isnt working due to the mod. i cant back it up i just know it works fishy on xbox1. i bet a new firmware will fix the problem soon though.

I have the shd162 drive. I pulled the ss from the game using that drive. Then I used wxripper to do the rest of the job. Put the game in and off it went no problems. I just hooked up mY shd162 drive today and am not familiar with it yet, thats why i did wxripper. Ill try again later with redline's program. but this is altogether weird.

I am pretty confident it's not a game code recognizing a modded firmware. This is most probably some routine in the modded code that isn't picking up this particular pressed disc. Maybe a batch of discs or the process of this particular disk is such that the modded firmware is not picking it up properly and hence is being recognised incorrectly. Works on the backup because the backups are pressed to media that the fw mods are tailored to handle. Or some variant of what I said. If it was code it sure as heck wouldn't work as a backup either.

Don't get all paranoid or assume these isolated incidents are the real thing. It is still too small a percentage occurence to make that jump.

OK, that actually makes more sense than EA being the only one detecting the hack. I stand corrected. On the surface of it though, it's kind of amusing that a backup works better than the original.

Personally I would like to say thanks to everyone. I was actually thinking about purchasing this game just because I LOVE t-dubs. I would have been rather upset if I brought it home and it didn't work.

I'm just curious, why wouldn't you buy it because of this? You obviously have a modified FW, so why not get it and just back it up? Isn't that why you have the FW in the first place?

TBH I have it modded and was thinking about putting it back after this post. I Have DOA and Bomberman which I bought. But I haven't even tried backing up a game. Hell.. I think I play it 1 hour a month.

Spending $60 I would hope it would work out of the box. Has anyone put their FW back to original and checked if it worked? I might buy it then.

If you read the posts, you would see that they are saying the original is working on unmodded drives. That's the point of the whole thread - works on unmodded, doesn't work on modded.

Its funny. I had the exact same problem last night and was checking with some people on IRC groups to see if anyone else had encountered it.

I have a Hitachi drive flashed with an older fw. When I put the original disk in it gave the "please put the disk in a 360" error message. I used my Samsung 162 drive to try a backup of it, and it worked great....

Well, worked great until Tiger walked up for a swing in the intro screen, then the video went all boxy, and the xbox died with the great 0102 error 3 minutes into game play. I've got it to boot on other games intermittantly but not anymore with Tiger.

And yes the game will not boot up on a modded 360 with a hitachi drive,if not modded than it will boot up.If you have a modded 360 with a with samsung drive it will boot up just fine,backup or original.
