I've got my laptop and Xbox connected through a router, which is connected to the Ethernet port in the wall. Before, when I was just using a switch, I could connect to people in the dorms and play Halo 2 on system link. Is there any way I can play on system link with my router?...maybe temporarily make it operate as a hub? (I switched from a switch to a router because this is the only way I could stream media files to XBMC)

p.s. please forgive me if this is in the wrong forum

Yeah you can't play system link through a router...The traffic doesn't have a valid address on it so the router doesn't know what to do with it.

If I unplug the cable going into WAN and just plug everything into the 1234 ports, will it just function like a hub? (that's what I want it to do)

It'll act as a switch...Make sure you turn off the router's DHCP function if you do that!
