Hey, nice forum.

I've got a problem with backups freezing ...

My setup is

Xbox (PAL) Samsung Drive flashed with Xtreme 4.0
and Pioneer DVR111 (firmware 1.23) using Verbatim DVD+R DL

I've tried backing up a bunch of games, and I'm certain they are all properly patched ...

But on my Xbox they all just freeze. "Dead Rising" freezes right after the Capcom logo, "Test Drive Unlimited" freezes like 20 seconds into the loading, "Saints Row" freezes randomly, but "Splinter Cell - Double Agent" works flawlessy. I burned DA on my old NEC 3500a, but when I experienced problems with all the other mentioned games I purchased the DVR111 . Burning with CloneCD on 2.4x ...

Any tips?

Thanks smile.gif

Also, the only difference between the images is that the Splinter Cell image was an .iso, whilst the others are .000's ... should that matter?

Bump! Using IsoBuster to backup backups, that should work OK, right? Just bought Gears Of War, and seems to have made a good backup. So far I've only backed up two games properly, Splinter Cell and GoW, the rest freezes early in the game. Mayhaps it is a bad flash? I lost my orig.bin so I can't reflash back to the original, but would flashing to newer firmware help?

Thanks in advance

isobuster is the only method I use and it has been flawless so far. sux about your orig.bin. flashing to the latest fw could help but I am running 3.3 with no problems.

Managed to re-flash the disc after two weeks of trying with Xtreme 4.2a, and it didn't change anything. Some games still lock up, always at the same time. Borked console?

Right .. so how did you create the images then??

It really comes down to the media brand and burner used. Verbatim are the best for Sammy drives as most other brands will freeze lock-up, display open tray message. All my customers use a pioneer burner with Verbatim media, 100% problems free. Soon as they try other brands they get problems. TDK work when the drive is cold but after after playing for 20 min then change disk to new game it wont read them properly, open tray. Most cheap brands lock-up freeze or just dont play or work a couple of times.

I use IsoBuster to backup my images. Acquired a harddisk and tried playing Xbox 1 games and "Hexic", which also locked up, probably confirming that it is a console error. Too bad the warranty is voided and there's nothing to do about it. Bought a console w/ Hitachi 46 and flashed it, works like a charm. Atleast I can use the TS-H943 to backup games and such ;-p
