Are you gonna use 1.50 updates or stick with your own stuff?
Shinkinrui
I haven't been around long, but I seem to recall him saying that there'll be multi-core support so that if a game works better with one emu core, you can use that core for that specific ROM. Of course, that was before the 1.50 core came along ...

I don't know really what I'm going to add. I'm kind of running out of features. I have a few things I'm kicking around (all mentioned in previous threads). And then I may start looking at bringing 1.2 up to the current GUI and add multi-core selection between them. I'm also splitting my time between openbor (and a couple other projects I'm interested in porting) as well. Not sure how everything is going to fall on the "priority" list though. Only time will tell.

Also, I'm not overly jumping at porting 1.50 since many of the issues that I found in the past are still there. However, there are lots of new things and improvements. Multi-core will be a lot easier for cores around (released) the current one. ZSNES has drastic changes with every new release and it's practically starting over from scratch with ever core. I was hoping it would be trivial to add new cores, but it's proving to be very difficult porting some of the newer ZSNES versions.

Rather ironic then because they are doing a lot of work on making ZSNES more portable like SNES9x by getting rid of the x86 ASM slowly.

Add the correct XY coordinate system, ditch all bloatware music playing features (that's XBMC job, not an emulator job) and update to ZSnes 1.5 if you care (I don't... or at least I think I don't biggrin.gif ). Then I would say that you're done with it and can move to other stuff like *sneeze*hardware*cough*accelerated*burp*psx*fart*emulation*sniff* .... ugh, this cold weather is really nasty blink.gif biggrin.gif tongue.gif laugh.gif

What is openbor?

I'm guessing the difficulty doesn't come from just running the new code on xbox, but from "plugging" nes' custom xbox gui&features he spent many many months working on onto a radically different core backbone.

There's over 16 months of work between 1.42 and the core Zsnexbox 1.2 uses, then another ~9 from there to 1.5, and it'd seem it's in this latter period they changed alot of the internal ZSNES workings (rewrote some asm to C, tranfered stuff to there new "PSR" thing that handles variables, +lots of things i dont get)

Exactly. In fact, ths is why I've yet to release a 1.2 with an updated GUI. It will take a lot of elbow grease I just havn't had to offer over the last few months.

Doubtfull since it serves very little to no purpose. People have allready determined the "correct" SNES display settings for ZsnexBox. You can just use those numbers previously posted.

I wasn't even aware XBMC supported those formats in ZsnexBox (NES, Genesis, SNES, SMS, GG, etc...). Everytime I've tried to play an SMC in XBMC, it doesn't do anything. Plus it's there not to be a jukebox, but to provide an alternative to the standard GUI music.

Provide me with a link to an open source PSX emulator that uses hardware for the rendering (i.e. there isn't one).

I've used them already, but it would be nice to have it anyway, plus you said you had no good ideias of stuff to put on ZsneXbox, this is a good one.

I don't know if it plays or not, but if it's there to provide an alternative to the GUI music, I guess it's OK (BTW I always replace these GUI bgm's with a dummy 0 bytes files muhaha.gif )

Nope, there isn't, but have you read this topic of mine? I dunno if this stuff is possible but since you know DirectX better than me you should know or have a look. There's also the deassembling way to do... 3x muhaha.gif
Consoleman!
nes,

When and if you resume work on the next update, would you mind starting a pre-release thread for us to kick ideas around? With as much progress that has been made with Z-Box, it was inevitable that the releases would come to a screeching halt, which is why I think it would be nice if we could have one more meeting of the minds for what may very well be the final update (for awhile at least).

Note:

This will be the last release from me until early next year. I recently got a new job that's going to move me across the country. So it will be a couple months before I get settled (or get internet access). I won't have any time to put towards ZsnexBox, but development will resume in January.

Everyone have a good holiday
