has anyone applied the update to play online, the game lets you play offline if you refuse the update, i didn't apply the update yet!!! to go live, I had a e71 last week if you know wadda mean!!

some forums says Gears of war include (and need !) the Fall Update du work ! ???

I am curious to find out if anyone has any REAL info on this matter? I just got the game and want to play it, but am afraid that there is a dashboard update that will mess up my firmware. Has anyone played this game either online or offline?Is the person that posted behind me stating that the update includes a way to ban on live? I'm not buying that, as there would be more warnings about this here from members that there is finally a ban that has come down. Please Advise from anyone that has some true facts about this game.

This to me doesn't make sense, due to not everyone has an internet connection to update and it seems too soon for the fall update to be included in a game.

first of all the update will not mess up the firmware. dont worry about that. if anything you will have to flash with the newest f/w but nobody has a bricked drive from the update.

Ive played it offline fine as my router is boinked wont go online. at least 4 people in my friends list are online with it

maybe, but I've the MS28 + Xtreme 3.3, ans Gears of wars seems to INCLUDE the fall update ??? :/

can someone confirm this ? ...i don't want to flash my firmware...

I have a sammy drive with 3.3 on it and received the update last week and have no problems, therefore it should not need to update again I would think. (?) Is this logical thinking or am I missing something. I also do not want to reflash my firmware as I had someone do it and had to ship it to them. Any help from people that are playing it on 3.3 would be appreciated.

you will need to reflash with 4.2 so you dont get f-ed up.

I already have the fall update, and this is a game update.

It's fine.

I haven't played online, I just updated the game.

Both original and backup work fine.

So I take it that I must have ms25 and 3.3, as I received the update from Live on the 31st and everything was fine. So the game update wont f-up my stuff will it? That is my only real concern as I still want to play my other stuff. Also I noticed that there is a new version of 4.2 a/b rev 1 out, has anyone used that in conjunction with this game?

It doesn't include the Fall Update. It requires a GAME UPDATE if you are connected to Xbox Live when you start the game.

Can anyone confirm what this game update does and if it will ban us from Live? Some people in this thread have said that their friends were banned, which sounds like BS to me. I just dont want to chance it, as I like Live and would like to continue to use it as long as I can before the banhammer comes down.

I did try to help - when you start the game connected to XBL it says "they're an update for this GAME available for download", not "This game requires the Fall Update". I was just saying since you seem to be going ahead with the update to try it and tell us what happens. I'm not going to try and retaliate your "14 year old friends" comment (btw I'm totally buying a Wii on launch day, along with 4 million others). Maybe I just didn't clearly say what I meant or something. I in no way whatsoever flamed you.

So I have a hiti drive and i have the fall update and such but i dont play online but i am going to by the full game and i dont feel like flashing back to orig is it ok if i have the game not burned i paid for it and play online with hacked fw?

Ok, my bad. I have dealt with people on other forums before where they tried to be a smart a$$ and say "hey why dont you just try it ,and fry your stuff". I just know that there was some issues with this E66 thing and the last thing I want to do is send my unit back to my buddy to have it reflashed. I apologize for the wii comment, as I also am getting one on launch day I guess I am worried and there isnt a reason to be according to the other posts. Hopefully you accept my apologies and take it with a grain of salt. Im getting off of work to smoke this bag and play some GEARS OF WAR!

updated, played coop online with sammy and hitachi. sammy - ms25 4.2a, hitachi - garyopa 2.2.

Ok, What does it tell you when put an ORIGINAL copy of Gears of War in (Hitachi or samsung)? By the way I am not refering to the "available update message"? Is it a situation like Tiger Woods 07 when some hitachi's wont read original discs ?

ok , i started this post , surprised to see all the people posting, anyways i did the update finally , just got back from work and seen nobody had an e66 or e71 so....

i have sammy ms 28 firmware 4.2b , did the online update took at least 40 seconds to download , applied it and everything is fine!!!!!!!!

hi, i have problem with this game. I m using Samsung drive with Xtreme 4.2a firmware. When I insert my backup copy of the game, nothing happen. Anyone else has this problem?

downloaded patch with hitachi 0047 with OPA 2.1 works like a charm online

I have a Hitachi with 2.3 and it works fine. Ran the update and have played a few hours of single player.

So many people afraid of getting banned from Xbox Live, it's ridiculous. These threads make me sick. You knew what you were getting into when you chose to flash your 360 drive. If you're afraid of losing Live, don't mod your Xbox 360.

I agree and disagree, ones like this, where its just someone too afraid to try are worthless. Now if there is a game that does get you banned i think its fair to post up in here and let people know. That way maybe they can avoid using it or give them time to reflash back so they can continue to use live.
