I asked XanTium about allowing us to take a shot at making a new logo for the site, and he approved of it. Unlike all of our other contests where the only prize has been the thrill of victory lol, XanTium is being generous enough to offer the winner an Xecuter3, an X3 LCD screen, a Pro switch, and an Xecuter Connectivity Kit, not to mention having your graphic displayed on every page of the most popular independent Xbox website. The only caveat is that he reserves the right not to use any of the submissions if none fit what he's looking for.

Type of graphic: Logo
Background color: White
Main colors: Blue and green to accomodate both xbox-scene and ps3scene
Text: a combination of "Xbox-Scene" (or "X-Scene") and "PS3Scene"
Subtext: not exactly necessary* but maybe something like "division of the Scenyx Entertainment Network" (in a small font; be creative)
Size: 280 x 94 (size can vary however)
Anything else: The logo should fit the current x-s skin. It's also a good idea to include the 'quick links' to the Xbox1, Xbox360 and PS3 sub-root forums into the logo as well. No use of the official Xbox(360) or PS3 logos allowed.

* = I say that's not necessary (at least not now) because you're going to need to include the quicklinks in the graphic, and there's a chance it'll look too cluttered. You may need to use slices for the graphic to accomodate the quicklinks. It's your choice.

We won't hold a voting period for this contest as it'll just be XanTium picking the winner. Also because of that, there's no need to use anonimity like the current PMCs. Post your entries here. Although he didn't give me a time frame, I'm going to set the submission time to three weeks. If you need more time than that, please let me know before the deadline. Thought I'd have a go, first time designing a logo.
The symbols represent the uses of the forums;

• A magnifying glass.. I used for either 'search' or a 'resource'
• The symbol of one man helping the other symbolizing a 'community'
• Tools, to represent the practical aspect, such as modding etc...

*images can be resized smaller if needed.

Thought I'd sneak in before any of the 'big guns' release their designs

^ Yes, he's looking for one logo that combines both. I think 325 x 120 would be a better size to go by because the original is a tad small for this request.

this is what i've come up with:




why change it if it's already so good? thought i'd try to leave it as close to the originial as possible, i just moved a few things around, etc. the image is already sliced.. this is just a rough draft, as i know the fonts i selected are total crap(i figured i'd let md or one of the admins on the site pick out the fonts if they don't like mine). open to suggestions anyone, if there's something someone doesn't like..

The "S" is the Scenyx logo I came up with. The main image links to the forum index and the other three work as advertised.

Wow that was hard to do. 7 pics. The outside of the oval had to be a png otherwise it looks pixelated. The three forums inside are animated gifs with 53 layers. And the links work.

I'm need a nap.

2nd edit: I still need to fix the font on X360 (could look better)

@_iffy, cool animation, though you don't have to save your image as a transparency, since its proposed to go on the top frame it could have a white background. The transparent background will show up with either a grey or blue background in IE6 since it cant render .png transparencies.

UPDATED:

I added rollover image borders to the forum link buttons, and added a rollover for the top portion of the graphic so when hovering, "Scene" will change to "Click for latest news".

Simple if you have Macromedia's Dreamweaver. Just create an HTML table and insert your sliced images you have stored on your hosting site. For the rollover images, you add your image using the Rollover Image function, found by clicking Insert/Image Objects/Rollover Image, from Dreamweaver's menu. From there you just paste in your links for the original image and rollover image plus link for whatever URl you want the button to link to.

You could use other html editors, though noone can hold a candle to Dreamweaver. Download Dreamweaver at Adobes website, they give you a 30 DAY TRIAL!. --> Dreamweaver Link

I suck with photoshop, so I'll spare y'all any submisisons of mine.

But, I'd like to at least raise a question. Why do we call it Xbox 1? Personally I separate them by calling them Xbox & 360. Nowhere is the Xbox called the Xbox 1 (by MS at least).

This is what I mean (and why I don't mess with photoshop ) :

for me personally, I used "X1" because "xbox" wouldn't fit correctly in my little circle... I do refer to the original playstation as a PS1, and I call the "xbox": old xbox, original xbox, and black box...

and on a side note, we now have 3 original xbox's, 4 360's, and 3 wii's in my apartment...hooray!

I'm with you; I go by the official names (Xbox, Xbox 360). I just used "Xbox1" as per XanTium's request.
