I recently made a copy of Gears of War using my Xbox drive which is a samsung ms25. I copy went fine and so I burned it using Xbox Backup Creator. I burned it using that as well to a Memorix DL DVD. When I pop the game in the opening movies don't play instead it will sit black for awhile then it goes to the menu (Press Start to Begin) and I can navigate through all that fine. When I go to start a new game, instead of showing the loading screen, the screen just goes blank and sits there. Is this because the CD I used or did I back it up wrong or is it my Xbox? I used the xtreme42a.bin to flash my drive.

try using verbatim Dl discs, memorex are cheap and pointless.
also only burn at 2.4x, dont go any faster then that to ensure a quality burn.

(since the game is being recognized, your firmware is fine, and since you can navigate through the menu, your xbox 360 is fine, but when it satys black, its almost like a dirty disc error. just go get verbatims and problems will be solved)

I hope to god your right smile.gif

OK you were WRONG!!!! I just burned Gears of War to a Verbatim disc and it did the EXACT same thing. What the hell is wrong with it?
ILLusions0fGrander
no need to yell.. he took a look at the problem and made a guess, the same guess id make.

my only other question is what burner are you using with what firmware?
MourningWood
my guess would be to try and re-rip it. It seems like some of the data was dummyied or corrupted in the process. I had one do that to me.

Are you sure the bitsetting for you're writer is set to DVD-ROM?
richiecaf
Do you connect your sammy to your PC via a PCI sata card?
Boogyman
Apparently I don't have the slightest idea what im doing. I connected my samsung to my motherboard...not PCI card. I didn't change any of the firmware on my PC DVD Burner which is a Lite-On not sure of the model number I will get that tomorrow. My guess would also be a corrupt iso but I did everything right according to textbook. I didn't set my bitsetting on anything sad.gif

I have a suspicion that newer games don't burn right when using SONY/LITE-ON burners. I bought a PIONEER 111D just to prove this. I will post back when I have a definitive answer.

Have you made succesful backups before using your current method or is GOW your first?
Boogyman
GOW is my first.
richiecaf
It's either a loss of communication from your 360 dvd-rom to your PC (which means that some other hardware is interfering with the connection or THAT motherboard is not supported, in which case it is writing zero's to your iso in places it shouldn't) OR your LITEON burner.

I would try an older game (like PGR3 or something) using your same exact method. That should tell you something.
Boogyman
What is the difference between the older and a newer game? Is there any way I can test the ISO the make sure it is complete before I waist my expensive Verbatim CD's on it smile.gif Just a little upset that I burned 3 copys of Gears of War and none of them work so far.
