Microsoft Talks about Video Marketplace Issues

I just hung up on a conference call on this issue, and I wanted to post an update. As you know, we have been experiencing technical difficulties associated with the extremely high number of downloads from the Video Marketplace service over the past 24 hours. We understand these technical issues have resulted in a very unpleasant experience for our members, including extremely slow downloads or not receiving the content they purchased. We've made progress over the past 24-hours, and the team is dedicated to fixing the issues and continues to work as fast as they can around the clock to get the service running as seamlessly as you have come to expect. We strongly encourage all folks who have experienced an error message or did not receive a download they purchased to call customer support at 1-800-4MYXBOX. I also want to mention that if you see the 'Points have been deducted from your account...' message when you are trying to download free content, we are NOT deducting points. Thanks for your patience, and please know that the team is prepared to make things right for those affected, including refunding Microsoft Points where appropriate and as quickly as possible.

If you are having problems or have questions, you may want to head over to the Video Markeplace forum on Xbox.com. Members of the Video Marketplace team are over there answering questions and providing status updates on issues.

I'll give them my bandwidth. If they give me points for it. Say 5 points every hour spent seeding.

Now, that is smart.. as long as you could turn if on/off optionally

I would gladly share bandwidth (with an on/off option) in return for points that would let me download things that I want.

i think downloaing HIgh def movies was a mistake in the first place, the obvious was writtin all over, way to big files, way to many people,,,, i think there going to shut down this feature pretty soon

I also think it was a big mistake to release such service.

However, I like the idea of bandwidth sharing but make that 100 points per hour since this would be a BIG favor to Microsoft and it takes a lot of points just to get anything. And make every minute add up cumulatively so that when someone uploads for say 30 minutes or so and have to shut down their console before 1 hour, they won't have to start the seeding hours all over. This will greatly help the DL times and be both beneficial to the community and MS. They just have to be sure the feature shuts down when people play online.

WHy do you think it's a bad mistake? It's a great service and the only problem is they did not have enough bandwidth due to the high demand. It's a simple fix.

M$ will never give us free points, and the fix is not that simple, they would have to buy far more infrastructure and the wont do that, tv shows are small files, maybe that could be the only download posibility for now, and shudown the movies download feature
