As title, anyone notice the big banner on XBLive! announcing the new ability to change your gamertag? Sound good, until you try to change your tag and XBLive! wants 800 gamerpoints for it!
Am I the only one who thinks not only charging to change your name is disgusting but 800 credits?! wtf?!

you should pick your gamertag carefully, at the end of the day what does it matter what it is as long as people know it's you.

yep, been there from day 1 man, why can't you just keep the same gamertag
the reason it cost is so that it stops people from changing there gamertag 800 times a day, pick a name carfully the first time and you wont have any probs.

Or if you can't figure out what you want it to be, you can use the generater online. They come up with weird stuff like LiverChop, or GreaceJunk.

perhaps you would like the way it was on the first xbox? they didn't charge you to change your name there, of course it wasn't POSSIBLE for you to change your name either
As you can see, picking one carefully is a mixed blessing. Check mine out. 80% of the time someone asks me what makes me a badass and then wants to fight me. But, 20% of the time someone says it's an awesome tag.
I put the pronunciation of my name in my motto since people can't say it, and I got tired of being called "Luck-ah". Its "Lou-kah" damn it. 
And so what if you have to pay? I paid to change mine, only had to do it once because I just got sick of my other one (had it since day one of Live) and at least you have the option.

I think if when it is getting close to expire cancel your xbl account, go to the store and by a 12 month subscription and start a new account with a different gamer tag, the only drawback is you lose your friends list but I am not sure if you loose the dl content you purchased or you can pay the 800 points and save yourself from the headache.
