We all love Gears of War, that's a given, I'm curious what everyone thinks would be good additions or changes that could be added or made for the next game of the series. Here are my ideas:

1) Mulitplayer would have a character customization option. You could make your own face, hair, armor, colors, add scars or tattoos and all that. I would also want more game modes: steal the flag, hoist the flag, weapon specific games, etc.

2) Smoke grenades for cover when moving from one spot to another.

3) A mobile gun turret you could set up and then leave to cover your back that would fire on it's own.

4) Multiplayer would have group vehicles. One player drives while another runs a chain gun on top or something.

5) The next game would have a helicopter mission similar to the vehicle mission in the current game.

6) When an enemy is killed the body would not be kicked around like it was made of weightless foam. Instead your character would automatically step over or possibly even a slight stumble when running. I thought it was cheesy that in such a detailed game you could kick a boomer around like he was a baloon once dead.

7) Overall there would be a lot more to the story line, especially background to the characters.

8) Last of all I would like there to be some more kinds of hand to hand kills, like sneaking up and knifing in the neck or something would be cool.

What do you all think?

Edit. ok i quoted you post, but it wquoted a completely different post lol .wierd.

I liek you ideas. but arent tehre already smoke grenades? i use them to go from cover to cover tongue.gif. or do you mean in story aswell as multiplayer.
As for teh vechlies, and turret, i dotn like it. i think woudl make it too much like a halo game. as teh characters go down pretty easy. and cover is essential, vehicles and turrets might just ruin teh balance completelty. But yea, are more in depth story would be nice.

Some good ideas. Personal face scan would be cool. Different bayonet attachments and additional scripted melee kills. Climbing or rappelling abilities (aka Lost planet & RS Vegas). Larger and more extreme boss battles. Like you said, weight to the dead bodies. AND PLEASE, MORE OF THE SAME!! This game rocks hard.

That's true, vehicles and a turret would replicate other games a little too much. Maybe if they put their own twist on it so it would fit the game and still be unique. Not the plastic drive wild and shoot all over like Halo. Maybe just rusted up beater cars that you could get in and drive around to position your own barriers, but they break down and drive crappy or something funny like that.

In an old computer game there was a weapon called the cerebral bore. It was a rifle that if you fired it the bullet hit the enemy, then work it's way up to it's brain, and then explode shooting brains and blood all over. The enemy would stay alive for a few seconds like it was still trying to fight, but then BANG! That might be a cool weapon to bring back.
hamwbone
cerebral bore was from turok 2 seeds of evil on the n64...

no hamwbone, cerebral bore was my last girlfriend "a real dimwit" tongue.gif

I would have to say more content ie. longer game, more story, more weapons.
I would also make the hammer of dawn more of a hammer than a flashlight.... its a friggen laser from space and it takes two shots to kill a berserker uhh.gif .
I love the characters, the little details like streams of rainwater splashing of Marcus's armor. Or the little comments made during a firefight or when you screw up active reload.

Improved A.I for your squadmates in single player.

-4player co-op

-a less buggy melee system, the chainsaw is cool but incredibly buggy and seemingly random who wins in a chainsaw fight. gun butting with the other weapons is almost useless.

-When you throw a grenade holding down the L-Trigger it should look at the final resting place instead of the peak of the throw. More often then not I can't even see where it's going to land, I end up just blindly throwing it into the sky and hoping for the best.

-the ability to switch which shoulder the camera sits on. I like the 3rd person view but sometimes the character obstructs what I'm trying to see and not being able to switch which side the camera rests on is rather annoying.

-there's no reason you shouldn't be able to revive yourself instead of waiting for your teammates (like by tapping A), similarly there's no reason the CPU teammates can't revive you.

-use a different button for running... seriously I'm tired of getting ready to run only to jump behind some cover on the wrong side and get wasted.

-let me crouch without being attached to some cover

-offer some more multiplayer modes, maybe something where players can re-spawn, especially if you're going to try stupid achievements like 10,000 kills dry.gif

I completely agree with everything you said. The Y button for looking is rather pointless most of the time. The Left bumper should be for looking at key things and the Y button used for general crouching, not behind cover. The computer teammates are only good for drawing fire away from you.
Another huge thing is how wasted the group commands are. Yelling "cease fire" yeah right! Has anyone ever used the Cease Fire command? Get real. 90% of the time I give a command to the others they say something like "I can't do that" anyway. Freedom Fighters for PS2 had a system where you could give an attack command and the computer characters would run to wherever your crosshairs were aimed. You could specifically lead your unit through a room in a tactical fashion rather than DOM shooting into the wall at nothing.

Complain, complain . . . I still love this game even though it's riddled with weird things that could have been done better. But if you really get realistic when thinking about this game you have to admit that graphics, crouching behind cover to shoot, and the chainsaw bayonet are the only things that separate it from other good games. Other than that it's just another game that has a lot of gameplay options and changes before I will be all that impressed.

Not splitting up the squad in every single level. I mean it was kool maybe two or three times during the game, but after a while it just seems like your playing scooby doo or something. "Ok shaggy, scooby, you take that way. Daphne and I will take the other path"... rolleyes.gif

Also multiplayer levels are good, but where are the underground ones? I want to play in the locusts home too, not just in the human territory above ground.

I agree...

I LOATHED having to split up because as soon as you're downed you have to start all over again. It's cool that you can help each other out but it's more of a pain then anything else.

As for the levels... good point, playing underground would make for some cool new levels. Thought there may still be hope for that, rumor is that they'll be creating expansions to add more levels, weapons and characters to choose from... hopefully some new game modes too....

That's another thing I meant to mention earlier: I'd love to see multiplayer "scenarios" where maybe you're the locust and you have to hold down the Fenix manor to keep the enemies from getting in and grabbing the tunnel plans. Or maybe the COGs have to hold down the Gas Station and prepare the truck while the Locust have to swarm the place and keep that from happening. Basically just bits and pieces from the actual game, maybe even some invented ones but with human players on all sides.... I think it would make for some really cool multiplayer experiences.

I have no complaints at all, but.....
it would have been nice to have more underground areas, those were my favorite parts. I think having more/bigger boss battles would have been more appropriate. Having to get deep into the earth to find the "queen's nest" and find a way to kill her or something.
The game leads that there will be more to the story line so we will have to wait and see. I love the gameplay and the duck-n'-cover mechanics, hopefully the developers can utilize this more and have a better storyline for the future.

edit: I just wanted to add that when I ran into the 1st boomer and heard him yell "BOOM" I laughed for like an hour. I thought that was awesome in a funny way.
thax
More co-op multiplayer, missions like GRAW where you need to beat the CPU on different modes.

It would be nice if instead of a linear storyline that it was adaptive, so that you can choose different missions which "unlocked" higher level missions. This would be less cinematic, however more RPGish. Not everyone would like this style, so maybe a spinoff game using the same technology, assets and setting.
olinselot
Imagine playing 4 player co-op. The missions could still split up, but you'd still be playing co-op. I still am daydreaming about having some junker cars that you could hotwire and drive in the game. They could be missing tires and pouring smoke from under the hood, but you could get them moving down a street while your team members walked beside it for cover or something. It would be like a vehicle mission, but nothing like technologically advanced hummers with mounted rail guns or anything.

I haven't finished the game quite yet, but I think a multiplayer map based on the train mission would be fantastic. You could wait at a switch and dump the huge pipes down on someone. Plus the action would be close quarters and doorway runs.

I just want one scene played out in this game where Marcus and Cole light up Cigars after taking out a queen. Like they've been saving them for after a good fight this whole time.

Only a genius could make such a simple character with one line so funny and entertaining.
Doughboy3
I think that they need 4 player versus and co-op. They also need to cut the money-making crap by requiring everyone playing on live to have a live account. They should just put in the guest system.
Foe-hammer
While the graphics are excellent, more detail needs to be given to the small stuff.

And the grainy self-shadowing look bad close-up on the characters face.

They do allow guests. You have to choose get past a certain point on the multiplayer menus before you see the option to add a guest. Works kind of weird but its there.
Doughboy3
Please tell me how!

make sure player 1 is signed into thie live gold account, turn on the player 2 controller, then go to mutliplayer, then click player match. then at the bottom of the screen it will show to press Y i think, sign in the player 2 profile, then just selct guest.

Not quite. After you hit player match the 'Y' button tab will switch from "sign in player 2 profile", to "guest". You need have that 'guests' option on the 'Y' button to allow for non-xbl gold members to join online via splitscreen.

It is very non-intuitive, but works.
briguymaine
I want to fight that HUGE beast at the end of the mansion act 4 I think. The one you just run by and he chases the vehicle. That guy would be a sick battle!
kelman8
heres something Im sure noone has thought of.

Imagine in multiplayer:
If you were on the locust team - you could pick a spot on the map for an emergence hole and you could
chose when you want to dig up to surprise your opponents.

Also,
The COG team where able to select a spot on the map for chopper drops and you could SWAT down to surprise your opponents also.

Just an idea - I think would be awsome.
Vfreitas
I agree with whoever said the small details need to be combed over more. Make sure you can roll off a f%&$ing ledge on the next one. I still can't believe they released a game where you can't roll off a ledge properly.

More multiplayer modes, support for more players in both campaign and Live, even if it is one or two more.

I won't say story or anything like that, because you'll know they'll bring it to the table. It's just the small things that need to be addressed.

That would be fun... to be COG in multiplayer and have this emergence hole just come out of nowhere... then you get raped.

The helicopter thing could be fun too, to balance the emergence hole.

And we DEFINITELY need to fight a Brumak. I remember seeing it at the end of Act 4, thinking "Hey, we get to fight this thing now!"... then it ended. They made such a huge deal out of the Brumak in the "Destroyed Beauty" booklet in the Collectors Edition of Gears.

EDIT: Oh, yeah... we have to know *impersonates the locust queen* Why we wage this war... why we cannot stop. Will not stop. Why we will fight and fight and fight... until we win... or we die.
kelman8
Yeah kinda dissapointed with the brumak deal.
Would love to see more boss stages like the CORSPER one but not a cheesy end of chapter montage, just a progression in story line with the odd big monster hear and there.
kelman8
Heres something to.
Imaging a chapter where you are chased by the BRUMAK while in the JUNKER(Modified) and you had to shoot rockets/chain gun it, I think that would be awsome.

Also id like to see as someone said before - a chopper mission i.e dropping ammo, chaingunning, picking up wounded, nuking.

Somethings id like to see in GOW2

-More vehicles (Boats, Bikes,Helicopter, Public transport)
-An open map, kinda GTA style but keeping the the original GOW feel to it (Continuos story line, Lots of cover spots, sniper spots, inside buildings etc.)
-Interactive use of JACK like the drone in GRAW.
-Newer Weapons - Armour piercing bullets (Which can go through walls), Better rocket-launcher(Straight shooter unlike boomshot), land mines, Knives/Swords, Even fist fights.
- Cooler Chainsaw part (as seen in the bonus disk with the collectors addition[Punching to aviod being sawed, like a kind of button mash for power])
-Ability to destroy buildings [Not that important, but have always wanted this in game]
-Possible Create a COG mode eg. look, fav weapon, stats. [But would hate to lose MARCUS from story line]
-Change in appearence e.g becoming dirty/muddy, leaving footprints, {Getting wet - which slows you down}

Will add more if I can think of any

Sorry for the mass of ideas..........
XxDiRtYDeAtHxX
A TASER WOULD BE A AWESOME ADDITION TO THE GAME!!!
It could electrocute the locus and if you get to close you could get electrocuted.
Also, I like the talking and high fives in army of two, or what someone said changing facial expressions, guns, armor, HELMET?!, buying new items.
Maybe even adding some martial art moves.
Better music even, the sound effects are awesome cannot change that.
Besides those comments the game is to die for, literally LOL
GOW2 will be sickkk biggrin.gif
PS>KELMAN8-Interactive use of JaCk would be very cool!! nice idea
