Just beat insane last night.. way too easy. I did it on co-op the whole way through with my friend split screen but he has the Halo mindset. Absolutely refuses to use cover unless he knows I can't get him up. Probobly would have been faster solo. Time to explore versus.

I finished it last night, as Dom while playing co-op, This time it gave me the "dish best served cold" achievement that it didn't give me the last time I played, and I finished up getting all the COG tags.
180 points in about an hour's time... it was a good achievement day

Going through now on Insane single player. Half way through act 3 in a few hours
Did anyone else know that the voice actor for Fenix is Bender from Futurama?
Foe-hammer
Dec 11 2006, 12:07 PM
I'm almost done with act 3 single player (no coop) on insane, and i cannot tell a difference in difficulty between hardcore and insane. Not tough whatsoever so far.
And fenix's voice sounds like eeyore's on winnie the pooh. "
yep, doesn't look good", "Wish i hadn't have seen it".

Insane doesnt seem too difficult, then when you reach the pumping station at the end of act 3, holy hell! the theron guards are rediculous. They take a million bullets to kill and they can shoot you with their torque bow with their eyes closed. I seriously took me like 25 times to make it passed the pumping station. Now I am at the beginning of act 4.
BTW I have only played single player. co-op would make it soooo much easier.

Went through Insane all the way on single player right up until RAAM!
No way was this happening with just me. After like 8 try's with my best "gamer friend" we finally finished it. I gotta say it would have been a little more satisfying if SOMETHING different happened at the end of Insane to make it worth all th hassle (aside from the GP).
No if I can just keep from getting dropped in MP and loosing all the time I can continue to enjoy the game.

Finally completed it on insane and solo the other day, I wasn't expecting RAAM to be so fucking hard! What the fuck was that about! I just kept spraying my machine gun at him when he was stood over me, worked when I was down to my last clip

the easies boss was the Corpser.

Yay, just beat it on insane. Overall it wasn't too hard, except for Raam. It took me about 200 tries to beat him, I finally got lucky the time I did beat him. I shot him with about 8 torque bow shots, then 4 grenades when he got to the other end (in front of the barrier), then another 4 torque bows and he went down. That time Dom fought good and kept Raam back towards that barrier. Damn that felt good.

yeah I'm in this club. I love gears and the challenge was much appreciated, but overall, underwhelming. I feel it could be just a bit harder!!
now if i could only get that damned clusterluck achievement!!

Dec 25 2006, 02:17 AM
Ahh man I'm with you on that clusterluck, no matter how hard I try, I throw a grenade and they all split!

Finished Insane solo. Took me less time than Hardcore since I knew all the boss strategies (didn't even bother with casual and thank god the game gives you the casual achievement points along with hardcore if you play hardcore straight out, would have been a pain to have to go through it on casual just for the points). Beat RAAM with the longshot and shotgun (love that shotgun) on insane (torque bow and shotgun on hardcore).

You gotta go to one of the scenes where they stream in through a doorway - tag the first with a grenade and block the path. You die too but it doesn't matter for the achievement - and helps if you die so you can start at that checkpoint straight away again - repeat ten times.
Or, you could redo a part where an emergence hole opens up near you - like at Fenix' house when you first go in - toss a grenade into the emergence hole as the grubs are coming out - I think there are about three that come out at the same time.

A friend of mine did it using Wretches... tag one when a bunch are rushing ... I haven't done it because I was past that most of the moments when the rush you bad... but once I finish insane (almost through act 4 now) I'll go back and get it...

Casual beat by myself
Hardcore mostly by myself (the some co-op)
Insane via Co-Op (just got annoying CONSTANTLY restarting a whole area when you die)
The hardest part on insane was the end. Seriosly, we did it like 40 times to try and beat RAAM. It was wierd to cause there were a few times when i perfect reloaded everytime with the sniper and felt like i just unloaded like crazy on him, yet he did not die. Then the time that we did defeat him it seemed like we shot him about 1/2 as much.
Another difficult part on insane was the car, we redid that part about 20 times

I just beat it on insane. I beat it previously on hardcore but I must say insane requires a lot more strategy. although there weren't any parts I found unbelievably hard (except for RAAM) I did find a couple of instances where it got really annoying. At any rate this game is the shiznit.
Also just in case any wanted to know, it only took me 6 mins to beat RAAM on insane employing the strategy mentioned in the link below. Before finding the strategy I had wasted about 4 hours trying to beat him. Beware though, when I tried doing what was explained in the article, RAAM didn't stay still so I had to keep hopping around the the block to stay in the clear. But other than that, the strategy worked like a charm.

Beat it last nite on Insane. Played the entire game (except RAAM) on single player over 3 days. I had to get my girlfriend to help with RAAM and still took us several trys. RAAM would get momentarily stuck at different locations on the train and we would just unload on him but I could never MAKE him get stuck. The method in the link above seems to have solved that problem though. I might play back through Act 5 tonite and try to beat it myslef.

I thought Insane was too easy. The only time I really had trouble was against RAAM. I think it's about as hard it can be because of the cover system. If they made it any easier to die, it would have just been annoying to play.
