Sorry if you've heard this a million times before - but I installed Evox, no worries, but now I don't get DVD playback and if I try to go to the original MS dash it hangs on the Evolution X splash screen. Doesn't load MS dashboard at all.

Could this all be solved by changing the original dash from msdashboard.xbe or changing the Evox.ini to say where the new name for the MS dash is.

Any ideas anyone or am I being a complete Noob

The MS Dashboard isn't going to play DVD-Video unless you have the DVD Playback Kit. If you don't have it, download a homebrew app like DVDX2, copy it to your hard drive, then change the path in evox.ini under MISC to read
DVDPlayer = <path of DVDX2>

I've already got the standard DVD playback dongle and remote kit

Yep, you're on the right track... I think your problems are all in the evox.ini
Make sure you have the following:

MSDashboad = <path to orginal MS dashboard>

and since you have the DVD dongle and remote kit...

DVDPlayer = <path to orginal MS dashboard>

Thanks, Ive edited evox.ini as suggested, but now all that happens is if I switch to MS dash or try to launch dvd it reboots and appears to get stuck in this endless reboot trying to load original dash & then trying to launch x2 until I eject the DVD.

Any ideas?

Totally stuck! blink.gif

hmmm... strange, here's a few more suggestions:

1) Set auto launch DVD and auto launch game to NO (in evox.ini)

2) Go HERE and check to see if your BIOS supports "change bootfile" V2 or V3, then try...

3) Set the name of your Evox Dash on C:\ to "evoxdash.xbe"

4) Set the name of the MS Dash on C:\ back to its original name "xboxdash.xbe"

5) Change your evox.ini DVDPLayer and MSDashboard to point to C:\xboxdash.xbe

All sorted now - being a Newb just getting to grips with the Evox.ini - now happy

Thanks for all your help!
