People are gonna tell you FLASH cuz its free. But you gotta make sure you have all the proper hardware in your PC and make sure you don't brick your drive. Read the guides blah blah. Then they'lll complain about updates and how patching the SS is dumb, and be all for Single Layer support that'll need SS patching... blah blah.

A chip for me is just easier to install. 4 or 5 wires. Don't need any special hardware on my PC. Just a soldering iron and some wire.

in the end, its your call. if you have all the hardware necessary already, and can read the guides and understand 'em. Flash.

If you're pretty good at soldering, wait for one of the new cheaper chips to come out and solder 4/5 wires. And never open up the xbox again.

As far as live, so far noones been banned. but that could change at any time. I dont really think either flashing or chipping is going to be immune to it. Flashers may come first, then chippers. Or vice versa. Or both at the same time.

IMO, if you have the knowledge then just flash it. even if you need to get a pci-sata card, that is like $10 vs. spending like $50-$60 for a chip. if you can solder then a chip might be better for you, I prefer the flashing route cause it can be back to original state in two minutes.

I can change it back to its original state in less than 2 minutes. Just gotta clip four wires.
But yeah now that more people are coming out with chips, expect there to be a price drop. if I remember right the xeno chip is gonna be $16? I think thats what i read on the main page of x-s.com

how is it original if you have wires soldered and hanging off the mobo?

chips your best bet if you dont have the pc hardware. i may get a chip once theyve been out for a bit. the cool thing is that some of the chips can recognize an original copy of a game and will shut off so you can safely play on live. right now you can still safely play on live regardless cause nothing has been done to ban firware hacks but a chip may prove better in the long run if a patch is made to ban systems with the firware hacks cause the chip just wont turn on. im still gonna wait for a few more chips to come out cause right now some of the chips have 20 or so wires to solder and that just sucks. same as the original xbox, soon enough their will be chips with fewer than 10 wires so just be patient. gluck!
