If you do, does anyone know where to get any decent refills for free or know of any names of decent refills?

I've always grabbed mine from newsgroups. alt.binaries.sounds.utilities. Some are legal, some aren't so you'll want to watch for that.

I've always found what's built in to be pretty sufficient as far as everything except orchestral and choral music goes. What style of music do you write?

Fairly heavy dirty techno, goa, and dark ambient.

For me, the default refills just don't cut it. They're too generic and "safe."
