As the topic states, I read the faq on hotswapping and had used two aligator clips going from the xbox metal chassis to the pc case as a safe measure. Initially the hotswapping was perfect, I could detect the hdd and I successfully backed up the hdd on my pc using hdd driver and and then I was just reading up on xboxhdm when I started to smell something burning (at this point nothing was being done to the hdd it was idle) and it was the xbox psu (mind you its third party had it replaced). So I immediately disconnected and as I was disconnecting I looked at the tv screen and it displayed the xbox logo sign like when it first boots up but before this burning and during and before backup it was showing error 21 on the screen. So I disconnected and took a look around, fuse was fine etc. no major burning marks and eventually I think I found some burn marks on the legs of a transistor near where I could smell the burn (now I just gotta read up on how to check transistors's functionality to be sure). So ok something went wrong and yes I know there are risks involved and accidents (maybe foolish) happen. I would just like to know is there something I did wrong something that happened even after I provided a pathway to ground using the clips? Any help is appreciated thanks
