For those of you who have the VIA 6421A Sata Controller PCI card and had trouble getting it to recognize in Windows XP SP2, I figured I would make a post.

http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageI...mp;SubCatID=117

The above link has the drivers needed to install it for windows recognition. Windows will not recognize it by default post-SP1 apparently. After doing that, use Xtreme Boot Maker to edit the mktflash - otherwise it will not read or recognize in DOS.

Once that is done, you should be on your way. I hope this is helpful, as I know when I was searching for my answer, I found many questions. The card I bought was nGear branded from www.ncix.com

I had trouble getting windows to see it too. The drivers at the site wouldn't install on my system. I kept messing around with it. Finally I screwed the metal flap into the case. When it was tight I screwed it in a little more then pushed on the opposite end of the card and the card went further in and windows recognized it right when i booted up. Dont screw it too tight though, be careful so you dont damage the card. BTW I ordered 6421L non raid but was sent 6421a raid. From the posts it looks like it will work fine. I installed the drivers that came with it.
