not sure wether my drive has had it or not

when i try to burn games at 1speed it is wrinting at 2.7speed and causing me coasters.I am using rivision discs as they work well with my hitachi 360.

I have taken the drive of off udma mode 4 and put it into pio mode to slow it down but it still writes at 1.6speed when i have asked for 1 speed

has anyone else had this problem?

sorry forgot to mention used programs Clonecd and imageburn both with same speed problems

im sure youve read that verbatims can burn at 8x, and are getting pretty decent as far as pricing.

hmm, cloneCD is what i used to use, but i burned at 2.4x before i moved to 8x...

maybe the coasters are from the media?

First of all I don't know what knucklehead is spreading the rumor to burn D/L DVD+R at 1x. YOU CANNOT POSSIBLY BURN A +R FORMAT DISC AT LESS THAN 2.4X (This is true of both single and double layer +R media). Second, Rivision is one of the lovely budget medias distributed by E-net. E-net has a long history of using overprints, B-Grade discs, ect. and will change out manufacturers at the drop of a hat. The result is that quality control is virtually impossible to predict with any of their labels. Some batches are decent and others are among the worst quality junk available. I would definitely pick up some Verbatim discs before scrapping the drive. http://www.svp.co.uk has some pretty decent prices on them for your area.
