MadPerry
yup, you can do that. but, you can only use one audio output at a time. the ps3 only allows one.

It's too bad it does, because I like to use optical for PS2 games and HDMI for movies. It's annoying having to switch back and forth.

Has any body found a fix for this problem yet?
I have Ps3 that I would like to play games with TV sound HDMI, but watch Blyray with the optical cable through the surround receiver.
I have a 360 that this works great with but it is a pain to switch back and fourth the Audio options on the Ps3.

Get a HD audio/video cable. Definetly worth the money. It takes gaming to a whole new level with the way everything looks, when I play Assasins Creed it's like im watching a movie. I cant imagine playing without it. I would suggest getting a RocketFish HDMI cable. Thats the one I rock.

Yamaha is known for producing quality audio video components. This audio receiver unit has many features that have in the past been only available in higher end home theater components.
