hi,just wanna say thanx to all,

the problem that i have is so far unkown, i installed a softmod ndure with unleash X on my xbox, everything went fine,i can ftp, back up files ext,it work perfectly,
but now i wanna upgrade my hard drive , i used xboxhd did every thing i should but when i put my new hard drive in the xbox it doesn't work, i have also tried the evox install disk thing but my xbox doesn't boot the disk,
i don't know what to do now, i have tried everything,
untill i saw in the xbox it tells me my bios is unknown is this normal,if not how can i fix this,maby that's the
problem,
i have some ideas but don't wanna do anything stupid

Did you get your EEPROM and put it in the Xboxhdm disk like you should have? The hard drive and the Motherboard are married with a HDD key. Since you're softmodded you MUST have your drive locked or else your xbox won't boot. XboxHDM is a powerful utility and if not used right you WILL have problems. My guess is you just made the XboxHDM boot disk, put your new HDD in your pc, booted up XboxHDM and did a C & E partition build. Once you were done you possibly forgot to lock it (because you didn't put the EEPROM in the eeprom folder of XboxHDM), and that's where you stand now. If this is the case then you're still good to go. All you need to do is put your Xboxs EEPROM in the EEPROM folder of XboxHDM, rebuild a new Disk ISO, and put the HDD back in your pc to lock it via XboxHDM.

i did all of the above, i even check inside the iso to make sure the eeprom is in the linux folder,
i even tried locking the hard drive with the hhd password gotten from config magic,
and what is the thing with the unknown bios, any idea,

Don't worry about the unknown BIOS.

What error are you getting?

When you locked the drive, did you go to option 3 on the main menu and then type in "lockhd -a" or did you manually type in the key?

Can you unlock this drive? Check it in ATAPWD and see if it is locked?

i tiped in the password

i printed the pasword that i got from config magic, i tiped exactly as it was printed, example

i tiped lockhd -p ea df ei .. .. .. and so on

then pressed enter and it locked the hard drive

i rebooted and i saw the drive was locked, and i unlocked it with the same password


is there not something else i can use i have also tried the evox boot disk that you put inside the xbox but it does not boot the disk
please help

You need to automatically lock the HD with the eeprom.bin file.

Unlock the drive and boot the xboxhdm CD. Go to option 3 and type in "lockhd -a"

That should get the HD working in the Xbox.

With a softmod, you can't boot up anything other than a MS original game. The softmod takes over AFTER the xbox boots. The boot disks take over BEFORE the xbox boots. Since the boot disk doesn't contain official MS code on it, it won't work.
