So i just got vista installed and its a sweet system!!! Anyway i was downloading something and noticed my sweet download speeds. This had nothing to do with vista i believe since i do have a good ISP and i have hit this high of a speed before with XP, anyway check out the pic.

Then i went to download the msn messenger program and then thats when i was REALLY surprised.... Ive never downloaded this fast before, check it out.

IF you say so... just don't like how vista will disable stuff on it's on... like S/PDIF because it has no content protection dry.gif

Ive noticed increased download times too, but everything else about vista sucks.

Really? I love it. The windows explorer is harder to navigate and having to approve changes all the time is annoying but that could be changed so you have full control over everything so it stops bugging you im sure. Everything else about it is very nice.

Im running an AMD 3200 64 processor, 2 gigs ram and geforce 6800 if that makes a difference. Vista runs quite smooth.

Yeah, Microsoft gave away 5000 Vista Ultimate licenses to the first 5000 people that reported a bug. All you had to do was send the automatic bug report if it appeared during your trial and be within that first 5000 range and you got a free Ultimate license. That's $400.00 for the Ultimate Edition, which equates to nearly $2 Million dollars worth of licences Microsoft gave away.

I was ticked when I found that out. I installed and tried out all their beta releases, but never had a bug appear to report. grr.gif This was also announced around the time Amazon was selling a thousand 360 core's for $100.00, which I missed out on that deal too mad.gif .

Dang i never heard about any of that stuff sad.gif I hope i can pick up an ultimate edition somewhere for cheaper then 400 bucks!

I have AMD 3000+ 64 bit. 1 gig ram, and a Geforce 7800, and it runs alright (although slow at times), but everything about it seems clunky. Its like a crappy version of mac osX

what kind of drivers does vista ban?

I was looking forward to putting vista on my system because of the interface so i wonder if those limits will affect me.
yaazz
there is an article about drivers that vista bans.... Some will work some wont. It has something to do with Vista requiring extra binary information

Ive just got a local service in my area called afconnect which runs on a LAN in the city and goes directly into your house. We are given static ip address's 10.x.x.x which kind of sux with NAT issues but everything is very fast and upload speeds are great. Ive been able to reach 1 meg uploading at one time to my web server. I hear a lot of bad stuff about vista but it runs fine on my system for the most part and im sure it will be a great OS.
