As the topic implies I have the Platinum Hits edition. I am wondering if you can insert vehicle mods with this edition.

if its anything like the san andreas "second edition" then yes, its moddable.

Well Platinum Hits = Version 2.0... (My Version 2 save works on that game and has the same Save # in FTP)
I'm following the tut you made and i'll let you know if it works.

Okay i patched and FTP'd the default.xbe file back. It loads the game up but when it goes to load up the SAVE file it freezes midway. Any idea why?

bad news, the two games have seperate game saves, which means their incompatible with each other (blame rockstar)

so you might need to delete your game saves and start over. (make a backup just incase)

another reason it might've crashed is it might be the wrong xbe. If you have a PAL xbox, you need to use this patch instead:

also be sure to test all this without any other mods installed. once it boots up, THEN you can try to install other mods such as vehicles, reskins ect.


and as a side note, you should be able to download game saves from xbox-saves from the san andreas V1.0 sections since your essientially running a v1.0 xbe now. But for testing reasons, try to boot up clean with no game saves to see if it works and game from there.

Okay. I learned that my old X-box save for SA WAS incompatible. I wasn't too worried about it. I FTP'd the old save to the PC and started over. The patch works wonders. I have modded 20 something cars and all. Thanks a ton for all of your help. One more question. Are we allowed to ask for mods or mod sites here? If so... What are some good XBOX mod sites for GTA?

EDIT: I already know of XboxGameMods.com and the GTAgamemods.com or w/e doesn't work

as long as the request doesn't include a large part of the game (the gta3.img file for instance)
yes, I believe requests are fine.

as for sites, my favorite is gtagaming.com
their pc, but shouldn't be too hard to convert.

Theres a few others out there too though.

I've been to GTAgaming.com they have HUGE .dff files... is there any way to convert that? or any one i can ask to convert it... I've seen some cars (jester to supra) that were around 1.8 mb for PC and only 800 kb for XBOX. How is that?

well one of the main way to lower the dff file size is to import the model into 3ds max and remodel it yourself, but this requirements much skill with 3ds max.

there are programs out there that can automaticly reduce the complexity of the model, thus making it smaller. They do this automaticly, but because their so useful, their VERY expensive most of the time.

If you got some cash layin around, it may be worth the buy. I've seen the software range anyway from $30 to $1500.

hmmm... i'll look into it. Can building mods work in X-box SA?
