They rule. After waiting a week for my X2 Lite to ship from Extreme-Mods, I cancelled the order and went to modchip.ca. With overnight shipping, I actually received the chip in two days, great stuff.

They also include some solder, two extension wires (for the alternate d0), and a de-soldering braid with your order.
xboxog
yup i got that 2 pretty good service!
All in All a good experience!

You cant go wrong. They do COD. Which means you get your MODCHIP guaranteed. The prices hurt a bit, but thats ok for some.
lebriznon
they have good service, and i think they'll help you if you call them. COD option is great, and shipping is pretty quick and not too expensive. however their overall prices are a tad high...

yes there good since im in Canada just about next door laugh.gif ontario!

This place kicks ASS! If you are in Canada, don't even bother looking anywhere else. I ordered my Matrix on Fri night at 7:30pm, and had the chip Tues at 10AM!

Now that IS quick! Answered my emails in a timely fashion too.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Great service! As was said before, the prices are high, but you get the chip in about two days.... The ONLY way to go if you're a Canadian pop.gif

I originally wanted to buy my Xecuter 2.1 lite at system-mods.com b/c I had bought from them in the past and I knew they were a repuitable company, but they did not have any in stock , and would not get any in for at least 2 weeks. I then tried modchip.ca b/c they were listed as a reputible dealer and they said the Xecuter's were "shipping now". After I placed my order and still did not get anything from my tracking number, I e-mailed them and they said they were out of stock and had no date for when they were getting more in. I'm still trying to cancel my order .... Oh , and one more complaint, when the page comes up asking for what type of shipping you want, there is an option for next day, or something like that (can't remember the exact wording) for about 10 bucks. I chose that and on the next page asking you to verify everything is correct the shipping was suddnely jacked up to around $30 !!! I did not have a very good experence with them, maybe some of you will....

I ordered a x2 lite which said was in stock. ended up being a pre-order for x2.1lite. At first i was upset due to a couple of other sites getting the chips in first. However I am glad I ended up with a 2.1. Shipping was great, about 4-5 days, Canada to Southeast US.
Prices may be a little high, plus its in the canadian dollar so do your calculations.

I've been dealing with modchip.ca since before they were modchip.ca (some may remember javex.com). I have ordered close to 30 PSX and PS2 modchips from them (Used to be a PSX mod installer). Never had any bit of a problem, and COD is always a BIG plus.

However, recently ran into the same problem as some have had. Ordered an X2Lite, got put on backorder for the X2.1Lite. I never had any problems at all, as they made phone contact with me at least twice in that time (I was curious as to the situation). They definately care about their customers. Being that the chip was for me (and not for a friend or someone), waiting was OK. I will, of course, deal with them again for any of my modding needs smile.gif

Yah, got everything Ive ordered from them, but had a crappy experiance with them once over a year ago.
The website cgi form was taking forever to load so I clicked it again, and the guy called me on the phone and was a real @sshole about it, talked to me like I was a stupid internet newbie! I wont order from them ever again, and I wouldent recommend them because of the crap service that they provide.

i've been ordering form Chris Baxter(i hope thats right) and www.javex.ca(www.modchip.ca) for about 3 years.. since the first 4 wire psx mod (now they ahve stealth elite (6), about 9 generations) and never had a problem.. their prices used to be resonable, however now they are just too pricey excpecally with cod.. however i still highly reccomend.

Just throwing in my 2 cents, I ordered from them on a friday (around 4 pm) got my order on the tuesday. Pretty good if you ask me, a little pricey, but so is out of country shipping (Im in Ontario...) Good experience, there install tutorials kinda blow and there knowledge base is empty though, that could use some work... Other than that their pretty good IMO.

I have run into it with them before. They do ship fast and you will get your stuff. But there customer service (if you have an issue) is the worst i have ever experienced. I had to send a chip back to get it tested. Magic3.1 with clip kit. He sent it back to me, charged me for the cost of shipping and said it was fine. And yes the chip was fine as I decided after numerous failed attempts in install with the kit to just try and solder the chip itself in and it indeed was fine and worked perfectly. However the bios clip kit that was also purchased from them was obviously not tested and was indeed bad. Chris didn’t even bother to test it and just acted like I was a noob. Hhheeh smile.gif but this noob knew enough to get the chip working even without the bought and paid for and damaged accessorie. My advice is stay away from them. As yes they will ship your package but if there is an issue chis just classifies you as a stupid noob and will not listen to anything you say from then on. He is all about help when it comes to questions about what to order and when it will be there and such but when it comes to I think this product may be bad, you get the old, its not bad its just your too dumb do know how to do it. Just my 2cents about what i have experienced with them. Here oh btw I posted almost this exact replay to a thread on www.ps2newz.net it got my post deleted and my ip address banned from there site. I think that’s why you don’t hear a lot of bad stuff about this place or this guy.
irate
Just to addon to the post above my own. Yeah, I bought an X2.2pro, and it came here riht away. I live in Ontario, so I figured I might as well go Canadian to avoid the border.

ut I couldn't get it working. Yes, i AM a stupid noob when it comes to mod chips. This was my first one. Now, I realise that going with the Pro was a mistake. I Should've gone lite or liteplus. I sent in a huge, detailed report of what was happeneing, and how I couldn't get it to flash. All their reply was (and I quote)

QUOTE
yes try freinds chip (also on off switches on yours) see if you can figure out then return for tetsing if you cant.

Yes, I suppose it's just me, but I like when a customer service rep can complete sentances, and uses at least some attempt at capitalization.

This coment came after I said I might be able to get another chip to try my install on, so I wouldn't have to send it back. Fair enough. But then the other chip didn't come through, and I sent them back another (long) message in regards to that, and wondering if I could exchange it with an X2.2 Lite plus (same price). It's a fair question, I wasn't sure on the answer, but it couldn't hurt to ask. I also asked what I needed to send them back, just the chip, or everything. Here's their response.

QUOTE
rma1732 please mark your chip with a black pen.

Thanks, ass. Big help. I've sent them another support ticket repsonse asking for an answer to my questions, either way. I'm not particularily happy about their level of support so far. I think it's been mentioned in this thread before, but if you're not 100% sure of what you're doing, don't get it from this guy. If you get stuck, you're on your own (so far). Having said that, if somethig changes, I'll be sure to come back here an update the post.

Cheers.

UPDATE: Well, I sent the chip back. They agreed that the chip wasn't flashed, and now I'm just waiting to see what else they do. Seems that if nothing else, they at least actually check it out, and don't just send it back assuming you messed up, as I had heard someone say they did. My opinion of them is back on the rise.
Syntaxer
they're waaaaaay over priced and in my opinion not worth the friendly service etc.

what makes them so special they can price hike up to 30%
alco
ordered 3 days the chip was at my front door very fast and i reco them also for there tech support!!!
phigmeta
I am an idiot .... still not to happy about the backorder thing but .... hey no one else has them so i guess its just how it is sometimes.....

i will say these guys are not so bad after all .... i Just have to many email addresses.

Dirty_core
Wow, I see alot of good things said about these guys, but I wish I could add to it.

I ordered a X2 Pro 9 months ago. Then it just blew. Tried to contact them to ask some questions and get some help after spending 3 weeks here in the forums and trying everything but hooking it up to my dog. Still no luck. Well lets try the professionals. Well all I got was rude remarks, and dead ends. Good experience at the start when it took 3 and a half weeks to get the chip as they neglected to tell me for that long that the chip is outta stock. Then offer to upgrade me to the pro for an additional 20 bucks and can ship it next day. By this time I WANTED A CHIP, so I agreed. Seems I am a sucker for getting things NOW. Now all I got is a dead chip to stare at and my FRAGgin Xbox.

I guess there has to be a few bad seeds. I got it!!!

Thanks!

Hi just wanted to tell you about my experience with www.modchip.ca. I order 2 of the new X2.3b lite modchips.Did the fedex over night shipping and got them the next day.The guy even called to confirm my address, you really can't get much better service then that.I will deffently order from them again, even though there prices are a little higher then most places.

LdcMoB: hey just wondering when you ordered your chips? I just ordered mine, and wanted to see how long it will take...

Thanks

Happy New Years

Just wanted to say how great Modchips.ca is...I ordered a chip on Friday and I got it today(monday)...

Great service, quick delivery, and a little over priced. But really its not that big of deal, when you get your chip in a matter of days...

Now i gotsa try to figure out how to install this thing....
Big Booger
They are trying to shove it in my ass as deep as they can get it...

I ordered a X2 2.3 programmer as my X2 2.3blite+ is fuckered...

Well I ordered it:

QUOTE
Order Information

$29.95  Qty. 1 #program-L:  Xecutor2.3 external Programmer
----------

$29.95  Approximate Subtotal in  <b>Canadian Dollars

$29.95  Fedex Overnight
----------

$59.90  Order Total

That is for foreign overnight Fedex.. I don't mind paying cause it is like $41US, the total above is Canadian..

BUt then 1 day later they write me another letter:

QUOTE
You are subject to a out of delivery area charge by FEDEX. We need to charge an additional $21.61 to your credit card. Is this accetible?

Your order will be on hold until we hear from you. Forward this message, along with your answer to marc@modchip.ca as soon as possible.

Regards,
Modchip.Ca.

So I would be paying twice as much for shipping than for what the fucking programmer costs..

BUT ON THEIR WEBSITE IT SPECIFICALLY READS:

QUOTE
USA By Fedex Overnight $12.95 Includes A Tracking number ($19.95 outside North America 1- 3 days)
When you want your order the next day - This shipping method is highly recommended!!!! - Signature required.

Now tell me where does it say you'll be charged more for OUT OF DELIVERY AREA from FEDEX?????

It says $19.95 outside of america...

I AM ALREADY PAYING THEM 29.95 outside of America.. more than what they quote on their shipping site:

http://www.modchip.ca/shipping/costs.php

Now they want to add $21.00 and some change to that $29.95 that I am already paying...

So this is what I wrote them back:

QUOTE
$29.95  Approximate Subtotal in  <b>Canadian Dollars

$29.95  Fedex Overnight
----------

$59.90  Order Total

So in addition to the Fedex Overnight Charge of 29.95, you'll need an additional $21.61 to deliver to Japan?  I find that rather hard to swallow considering the size of the object.

The total shipping for the item would be $51.56?  That is nearly twice the cost of the item itself.  I think I'd rather cancel my order all together and go with another company.

Thank you.

I decided to go with another company so I asked them to cancel my order. I also think they are a decent company now after receiving this email. I think I rushed to make a judgement and regret that. ohmy.gif

I ordered a X2.3 Lite + from them on December 28th, 2003 and opted for the Overnight Fedex. It is being shipped to the US. On their website it says that the they will ship US orders in 18-24 hours if you pay for the 12.95 Fedex Overnight. When I recieved my confirmation email and my tracking number, it said that my package was sceduled to be shipped on Jan05. Jan05?? This was a full week after my order... Why am I paying overnight for something that is going to take a week to ship?

I emailed them on Dec 29th asking them about the ship date and I just wanted an explanation of why it was going to take so long to ship (when they say that there shipping department is unaffected by the holidays). When you fill out a contact request there are multiple warnings, warning you to only send one email about any particular question and that it could take them upto 72 hours to reply. So, I waited a full 7 days and heard nothing (I figured I would wait until Jan05 to see if it actually shipped or not).

Jan05 came around and I checked fedex's website. To my suprise it had been updated and it now said that the expected delivery date of my package was Jan06, 10:30 AM. Hell Yes!! I was excited so I made plans to be home the morning of Jan06 to make sure that I was able to recieve the package from the Fedex man. 9:30, 10:00, 10:30, 11:00... still no Fedex. I checked the the tracking info again and it said, "No Scan information is available for this package at this time." This essentially means that the package had'nt been moving anywhere and most likely had'nt even been put on a truck.

So, I called Fedex and talked to a Support Rep. She told me that the package had not even been picked up yet. That modchip.ca had not requested a pickup for this particular package. At this point I am getting seriously annoyed. I emailed them in the evening on Jan06 explaining that I had not even heard back since I sent my initial email on the December 29th and explained that I was'nt satisfied with the way that I was being treated and I also informed them of how dissapointed I was that they would claim 18-24hour delivery and then not even come close to making that happen. It is now the afternoon of Jan07 and I still have not recieved a reply. I just sent them a request for their phone number via their request form and I'm hoping they will atleast be decent enough to discuss this with me over the phone. I have tried to remain professional throughout this whole ordeal, but my patience is quickly running thin.

IF ANYONE HAS THERE NUMBER PLEASE EMAIL IT TO ME AT knorthcu@spsu.edu !!!!

Kinda disappointed - their stock on their site says " Fully In Stock!!!!" yet when I received my shipping response it directs me to a page saying my chip was back ordered w/ no forseeable in-stock date. I decided to spend a little more money to buy from these guys because they said they actually had the chip in stock, I could theoretically have it the next day, and they have good feedback here. Now I'm contemplating cancelling my order and waiting for system-mods.com to get their stock in as they seem a whole lot more forthcoming with their availablity, not to mention 20 bucks less. We'll see-

1/8/04 I now think I may have caught them on the cusp of running out of stock. Everyone is out of stock, so I'll just wait. They have since updated their website to reflect their lack of stock. They are currently exhibiting good communication of their situation.
HYJiNX
Ok, I received the aphone number from someone that will remain anonymous. I want to personally thank that person though, because it turns out that the number he gave me was the owner's home phone number. He seemed a little suprised to hear from me as he asked, "who gave you this number", but he graciously gave me the number to the modchip.ca office and I was able to get in touch with someone up there named Mark, who informed me that they are in fact OUT OF STOCK of most all Xbox chips. He said that everyone was out of stock because of an IC shortage in Asia and that it would be another 1-2 weeks before they recieved any. He is sending me a link to their back order page that will keep me up to date on when they recieve new shipments.

See, all I wanted was a little *$&*%(#*$& communication. I'm completely fine with waiting, I just wanted to know what the hell was going on. I'm happy again, they just need to keep their page updated regularly and tell people that these chips are OUT OF STOCK and not "Fully in Stock" like they claim. Jesus!
saveth
great so it will be a week or two before I get my chip. I guess I don't really mind waiting but I wish they would refund some money since I went with the overnight while being given a false status on the chip. That is just bad business habits. They had no problem putting the status as in stock when I ordered it yesterday so what is the problem with simply switching that to out of stock. You could change the status in a couple seconds to say out of stock estimated time of arrival 1 to 2 weeks. That is just lazyness on there part.

I honestly can't believe these chips are going so fast. I also ordered mine on modchip.ca on the 6th and haven't heard anything back yet as far as a confirmation email goes. It does say on there backorder page shipment will go out to Credit Card users first then COD's if stock left. But honestly does everyone who has an xbox have a modchip in it?
Rob155
well I ordered my x lite plus from them 12/29. At the time it said in stock, and I think until the last few days it has said "in stock". At the minimum, these people are biting off more than they can chew to keep ahead of the competition. All the other places said "out of stock" so I naturally ordered here. Lazy or worse to say the least.

In any case, I've tried to figure out what was going on for a week, without emailing them. After a week and not seeing a THING with their tracking feature, I figured something was up so I emailed them. Got a form letter saying to wait basically. Nice thing seeing a disclaimer for an online business saying it could take 72 hours for a reply. Think they assume people are fooled into thinking that email gets to them by way of telegram. Strike 2.

So far in from receipt of order to their mass email response to the delay, they give this website: http://www.modchip.ca/bo1.html
And this is what disturbs me most of all, and I quote:
"If you order tracking number doesnt work its not shipped and you need to check this page for details - PLEASE DO NOT EMAIL ASKING ABOUT HTE ORDER THIS WILL CAUSE YOUR ORDER TO PEND LAST AND POSSIBLY NOT BE SHIPPED."

What online retailer, that has so far failed in updating it's in stock (to me it looks as if a bait method to make sure you buy from them), then tells you if you ask about it's status after being mislead and put on hold that if you even ASK about where it is or what is going on, you will be bumped to the bottom of the list or possibly not even be sent it????
WTF IS THAT?

AND I WAS ALREADY CHARGED!!
THEY HAVE MY MONEY, MISLEAD ME ON IT'S AVAILABILITY, AND THREATEN MORE PROBLEMS IF YOU ASK ABOUT IT?

That to me is absurd, and all those problems are the exact reason why people are scared of ordering online. I have never had any online company in all my transaction pull those in unison, and none ever give a warning (AFTER DELAY) that I shouldn't ask about the situation.

I'm crossing my fingers, and will give it to the end of january. I'm somewhat reassured by a few of the positive comments from earlier on this company, but from my perspective right now, this is either a company in shambles losing it's grip on customer satisfaction and business ethics, or a last ditch scam operation.
Rob155
Just checked around some more. Mods4less lists that exact chip as an eta of 1/10/04, as modchip.ca recently added to their post site says it will be in stock for shipment 1/16/04. Of interest here is modchip.ca's claim, on that same site:
"We have prepaid for the inventory to ensure we will always be the first to have stock."
And they charge about $15 more.....sigh. More and more not looking too good. I'm waiting for a return email from mods4less for a guarantee I will be shipped immediately and to confirm availability status for listed date, and I'm cancelling my order with modchip.ca. Why pay more, get charged before something is shipped, warned not to ask questions, be mislead on availability, and worse.
Mr_Beefy
for all you guys that just ordered you modchips is Jan. 2004, good luck. I am still waiting for mine that was ordered before christmas from modchip.ca. Their site siad fully in stock back on Dec. 22/03 when I ordered when in fact they were COMPLETELY OUT OF STOCK. This has been one of the worst online experiences ever. They could have solved all this by not being lazy and updated their webpage. Also they were quick enough to charge me for the chip. They billed my credit card the day I ordered, almost 3 weeks ago and my chip still hasen't even been shipped yet. I also paid for express shipping which was a mistake as I don't see over 2 weeks as being express delivery. I would NEVER buy from them again just becuase of poor bussiness practices. I have sent them a couple email's and the resonses I received were basically just telling me to piss off and wait the order will be shipped when we get stock. I only just received an estimated delivery date today which stills seems to be at least another week bringing the total to almost a month for a modchip. Nice express delivery eh!! Anyways my advice for anyone thinking of ordering through this site is to look elsewhere as you can see there a many unsatisfied customers and they do not seem to care.
Kirk Daurie
PS I am emailing a link to this thread to them.
kevhonda
ordered from them b/c the website says "FULLY IN STOCK" then recieved an email stating they are on back order "expected in 2 weeks" but they still charged the card however they are very responsive w/ the emails and they are offering to place the money back on the card since their website wasnt updated. dunno who has them in stock though could someone point me in the right direction

Well they claim they will be receiving their next shipment of the chips between Jan 12-14. AND COULD be sending out the backorders by the 16th. I will give them to the 16th, then say screw it and cancel my order. If they have lied or mislead up until now, it isn't going to get better or faster by then. It will put my wait time at over 2 weeks, and considering they blow people off after not being honest, charge the cards, and threaten to remove you to bottom of wait list or not send if you ask, it's just not worth rewarding ethics like that. I'll start the wait over somewhere else and take another chance.
Too bad the worst you can do to company's like this is spread your experience, you'd think places that pull this should have some sort of control device to keep them in check. The most they get is a "shame on you", and with the prices they charge they grin and bear it all the way to the bank.

Lesson is, you don't ALWAYS get what you pay for, so bargain shopping isn't so bad.
MeSS|aH
Good prices??? They're prices are ridiculous. The only benefit for us Canadians would be a cheaper shipping costs, but it's still $5 shipping and the site I'm using is $10. Not really a big deal.
Rob155
These people must be on crack. Today is the 14th, the last day the new shipment of x2 chips was to arrive. Well SURPRISE SURPRISE, there is a catch. According to their "info" page, since they are too busy to talk to anyone:

"Jan 14th - All x2lites have been shipped except cod orders, if you have a cod x2 LITE forward us your order confirmation to cod@modchip.ca and let us know if we should ship it out.

Jan 14 - We expect plus and pro stock Jan 19th."

So after waiting almost 2 weeks for this carrot, it's a switch. The shipment was only for x2 LITES, how convenient they don't state that till the last day of the promised day of arrival. So everyone that ordered pro's or pluses, which I imagine is the bulk of what was ordered, must follow another carrot until Jan 19th. SO fine, I don't feel like getting hosed by another "company" and deal with the credit card nightmare this will become if possible, so I will wait until Jan 19th. I wish this wasn't online business. In the real world, company's that do this will compensate you for their BS, whether out of shame, losing local business, or because they TRULY feel empathy for the situation. What are the odds they will knock down their prices, which I haven't heard one person say they are low? Pay for the difference in super fast shipping? Well I'm willing to bet I won't even hear from an actual person once the shipment is ready OR sent. Why you ask? Cause people like this don't give a rat's ass, and it has been apparent since I placed the order.
I'd love to be proven wrong, but it's long past the point where it can be said it was all a mistake.
To the people who HAVEN'T ordered here, I strongly suggest to take your business elsewhere, anywhere. I can't guarantee it will be better, but I sure can't see any possible way it would be worse.
figdish
I agree with Rob, in my previous post I was trying to give modchip.ca the benefit of the doubt because of all the good stuff that this forum had to say. However, I'd have to say this company has shown a serious lack of good business practice at least since I have ordered. I too was hopeful when they were 'dangling the carrot' as not only were they vague in what they were receiving (called them 2.3b's) they also removed the 2.3bplus / Pro's from the out of stock list while tracking the vague 2.3b's . This would lead even einstein to believe his chip was soon to be shipped. Now I have to wait another week... I'm almost used to it.
I'll never use them again. I'm reasonably secure that I will receive my chip, but don't give people credit for things they are supposed to do. Bad experience, I'll try somewhere else next. They've given me no reason to give them further business or recommend them to friends.
SpeedyOyster
I've actually just mailed modchip.ca asking them to cancel my order after having my card charged for over a week and a half without any product shipped.

I'd rather wait and deal with someone more honest than these guys.
function151
Ordered my X2.3b lite on Dec. 29th and I just got it today. Just to let folks know that they are shipping and not ripping people off.
Rob155
well that's great that more than 2 weeks later you got your "LITE". Ripping off, well we don't know that we AREN'T going to get our chips yet. Problem is this: they claim to be the most honest dealer out there on their info page, that they don't mislead on times for arrival. Upon ordering our chips recently, ALL of us were deceived in that they said in stock at the time. They have been vague about dates, changed them a few times already, cost more than any reseller I've seen so far, and full out stated "don't email us if you don't get it when you are supposed to, or else we can ship you last or not ship you at all." This was paraphrased of course, but that's what it says, right on their info page.
Finally, you DID receive your LITE, but what about all the other people that ordered LITE PLUS'S or PRO'S. You know, the ones that weren't told THAT shipment wasn't coming in on the 12-14. So I guess this all depends on what you call a rip-off. Paying for something and never getting it as part of a plan is a rip-off. But how about paying a premium on something you order, being "misled" as to it's availability, being told not to ask, and being charged weeks before it's even shipped? To me, that's also a rip-off, I'm not getting what I paid for. For the high price they charge, you'd think honesty and customer service would be a given. And checking out other resellers comments here, I'd say other's have paid less, gotten their product when told, and been handled like customers, not like beggers. I hate to sound irate, but I am. We are left complaining here as if we mail it to them, they will screw us more. Wouldn't want to give them an excuse to put us bottom of the shipping list in order or not sent what we've already paid for, as their email and info page clearly states.

December 18th 2003 I ordered the new X2.3bpro they promised that it would arrive before Christmas if we ordered it with FedEx Next Day Service (which I did) December 24th no chip, no reply's to my e-mail that was sent to the twice. December 29th I get a reply from them saying that it was an error on there part and they will reimburse me the difference for my shipping cost. Jan 16th 2004 still no refund. Also I got the wrong parallel port adapter (black) not the blue one. But on there defense it was not there fault. Now, I have more details to conclude but I don't want this post being 2 pages long. I honestly believe that fucken suck (as a company) and they don't really know how to treat there customers. Now I might get flamed but whatever this is how I feel or I might be 1 out of 100 customers that they fucked up on and I am really pissed off. But I wanted to know am I the only one here or are there other people that are having problems with them ?

Thanks
