So yeah, I've been searching around, and I really can't find a definitive answer. I purchased a DVR-111D a while back, and so far it's been doing flawless burns on DVD-R Taiyo Yuden media and DVD+R CMC media for movie backups. Is there any reason I should change firmwares? I've been hearing about TDB firmware, but according to the website, it only removes region encoding, and I don't see the benfit there as I don't deal with imports.

I'm yet to actually flash my 360 or pick a firmware yet, I figured I'd get everything working as it should for the DVD burner first. I have a Hitachi DVD drive in my 360.

Should be fine with that firmware revision. What I would do is leave it as is and then flash if you have tested out everything else and are still running into problems. Much easier to update your firmware then it is to try and put it back to what it used to be.
