right now, you can install any size but will only get a max of 137gigs...
If you have other questions they can all be anxwered by looking at the tutorials on xbox-scene, or searching for it with the top search button within this window, above the ad. Hope that helps

The best one to get is either MAXTOR or Western Digital, of course any brand that your xbox has is good. You should get 120GB (don't waste more money unless you find a 140GB hd, cause you don't wanna waste any space) with 5400 rpm. Make sure it is 5400 rpm. If you do decide to get a 7200 rpm, make sure you relize that it puts off extra heat. Also there is not much difference in loading times of 5400 and 7200, and 5400 is cheaper.

Western Digital has my vote. Thats the only HDD I buy, dose not matter what its going in, PC, XBox, Tivo what ever...
As for 5400RPM vs. 7200RPM, Killa is right. You won't really see faster game load times, but you will see faster file transfer when your FTPing games to the HDD.

hey guys, trying to decide which drive will be the best... i think i have two options, a barracuda or a wd.
i understand that both wd and seagate 120GB 2MB drives work.
will any of the 8MB Cache drives lock?
and do you think it will make a noticable difference to game play?
Cheers

Yes 8mb cache hard drives work, i'm not too sure if it makes much difference in loading and installing times compared to other HDD's, but it seems to be great for me, and i have a 120gb Western digital 8MB Cache.

It makes no difference since the IDE bus is locked at the ATA33 standard. Don't waste money on the extra 6MB of HDD cache. The heat from a 7200rpm drive is negligibly more compared to a 5200rpm drive unless you messed with the ventilation for the worse.

I deal with many brands of HDD's at work and for the Xbox, you can't beat the Western Digital 7200 drives. They are the coolest running (IMO) and seem to be the most reliable. I have installed 120 gigers in a few of my friends Xboxes and they all are running great.
I've got a 100Gb WD in mine at the moment, soon to be replaced by a 120Gb drive that I got for a steal.
I need more space on my PC anyways
