Jan 13 2007, 11:10 PM
hope it turns out good!

Jan 13 2007, 11:32 PM
Nice! But i think the top cut is gonna be a little too close to the air vents might wanna look into that before cutting
hellogoodbye2
Jan 13 2007, 11:43 PM
make sure to check on the inside of the case to make sure you keep at least one middle screw mount! wouldnt want to lose both of them!
Gokussj5okazu
Jan 13 2007, 11:54 PM
Looks good. Be sure to keep your cuts straight and smooth. Also, that design should leave the inner-rear screw mount intact. Good luck!
BigAl2828
Jan 14 2007, 12:17 AM
i dont think it leaves it, but do you really need it?
this is what im going to use to cut

it is like a air powered dremel
i am leaving now to go get new bit for it
thanks for all the input its greatly appreciated
hellogoodbye2
Jan 14 2007, 12:19 AM
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
i hope you have a nice straight file
Gokussj5okazu
Jan 14 2007, 12:31 AM
Well don't worry about the inner screw mounts, you don't need them usually. Mine only has the outter 4 and works fine.
Good luck getting a good line cut with that.

Seriously though, you're going to have to do ALOT of filing.
BigAl2828
Jan 14 2007, 01:26 AM
yeah thats what the guy at home depot said so i got an idea to use these special drill bits in my drill press, they can cut when you move them around unlike regular bits
heres what they are

lmk what u guys think
dre74
Jan 14 2007, 01:51 AM
Do those bits leave a clean cut without melting the plastic.
BigAl2828
Jan 14 2007, 02:50 AM
the bits worked really nice, its kind of hard to controll but once u get the hang of it its fairly easy

i had a problem though as you can see, i didnt have enough clearance on my drill press to remove the middle section so i will use a hack saw or something tommorow because i dont feel like it now
A Dubya2
Jan 14 2007, 02:59 AM
ahhhhhhh have fun finishing that
BigAl2828
Jan 14 2007, 03:29 AM
ok so i got bored and decided to cut the rest out

A Dubya2
Jan 14 2007, 03:43 AM
comin along nice
now do some sanding
hellogoodbye2
Jan 14 2007, 06:52 AM
yeah i used a bit like the ones you did to do my cuts. check my sig for pics on the first post... they work great and dont melt the plastic one bit. just a bit of advice, it looks really goofy considering the top is way closer to the grill(all the little holes) i think you should make it completely completely symmetrical.
just my 2 cents but its looking good. what colors it going to be wearing?

Jan 14 2007, 07:10 AM
best of luck your gonna need it
Gokussj5okazu
Jan 14 2007, 07:26 AM
Looking better, needs filing though. I'd cut that right side out more to that it's symetrical with the left. To even out the bit dips and rises in the sides try filing with the file on its side, which is much rougher. Just a tip. Best of luck!

Jan 14 2007, 04:08 PM
I think you forgot to leave room for the plexi by the air holes ...
BigAl2828
Jan 14 2007, 06:26 PM
i wanted to keep the mircrosoft symbol at the bottom right thats why i left more room at the bottom
yeah i did make it a little to close to the top vents but i think i can still fix it
im half way done filing/sanding at the moment
will probably have an update in an hour or two
Raven88
Jan 14 2007, 06:48 PM
Simple design but coming along nice. Sometimes the most simple designs can look the best! Hopefully you file/sand well, choose a good case color, add plexi and maybe some LEDS
HAPPY MODDING
hellogoodbye2
Jan 14 2007, 07:03 PM
dude it just looks goofy, you can keep the microsoft indent but then do this

it just looks stupid being the way it is right now
BigAl2828
Jan 14 2007, 07:28 PM
alright ill do that, just to make it look "not stupid"
the colors that i am planning to paint it are the whole case a nice green and then the X black and the side covers and HDD black as well and the individual parts on the faceplate black too, then i will top it off with a sparkly clear coat
i am adding some lights, u will see when they come in
BigAl2828
Jan 14 2007, 09:22 PM
ok finished the sanding/filing and everything
i sanded to back also with my powersander
pics will be up later
youloseagain
Jan 14 2007, 09:40 PM
wow that really sucks. waste of a case if you ask me.
BigAl2828
Jan 14 2007, 10:03 PM
dude why do u feel the need to flame??? damn all you guys and like aww this sucks good luck with that crap but i dont see you doing any modding?!?!?! atleast im trying my hand at modding and if you dont like it you dont have to look at it! or even be in my thread!!

youloseagain
Jan 14 2007, 10:14 PM
didnt you make this thread to get peoples oppinions? Thats just my oppinion sorry if it hurt you feelings. Not trying to be mean.
BigAl2828
Jan 14 2007, 10:24 PM
well it would be helpful if u said why it "sucks" and why u think its a waste of a case instead of just saying it
Raven88
Jan 14 2007, 10:37 PM
I always say never listen to other peoples opinions that they do no elaborate. It is easy to dislike something without a valid reason. This thread is for ideas and opinions, not sarcasm. Point out the good/bad parts. Also, for EVERYONE who don't like some of the 360's shown on this site, can you please post pics of your OWN mods. ....unless you know how to mod that is ha ha

This is my 2nd post in this thread...like i said
HAPPY MODDING
youloseagain
Jan 14 2007, 10:42 PM
Well I think its pretty clear why I said, what I said. One the whole artistic idea you are trying to incorporate into this 360 is really dull, plain, and boring. Two the X is very oddly shaped and looks un-even. Three I just feel like you could do so much more with a case then cut a big un-even X in the middle of it.
comradpoplin
Jan 14 2007, 11:52 PM
its a good efort and and well done if you like it then thats all that matters it doesnt matter what any one lse thinks.
that said you need to take pride in your work (not saying you havnt) and make sure your cuts are even and streight and that your case is symmetrical if it needs to be and you will be fine good luck and i hope it turns out the way you whant it to.

Jan 15 2007, 12:36 AM
Listen it your case your design. Yet when you post pics on here. There will be some people Flame the crap out of yeah. Yes the X looks a little unbalance but when I hold my head to the side the things gets straighten. Just role with what people say. Just keep the updates coming.
A Dubya2
Jan 15 2007, 01:18 AM

here is just a quick idea i had.
don't listen to the flamers. your just starting this thing. I am confident once it is done it will look sweet.
Keep it up
Gokussj5okazu
Jan 15 2007, 01:24 AM
I like the way it looks, let's see some paint!

A Dubya2 seems to have a nice concept as well.

Jan 15 2007, 01:33 AM

Jan 15 2007, 02:37 AM
1) when you show off your work your asking people for their opinions
2) your design and your idea is totally up to u. i think u got in over your heading picking that design being a noob as far as cutting. if you not a noob u have a lot of proving us wrong.
3) when cutting a window make sure u cut b4 the line so your able to sand to the line. good luck.
4) get rid of your animated sig, or else a mod will.
BigAl2828
Jan 15 2007, 04:46 AM

BigAl2828
Jan 16 2007, 12:41 AM
yeah well it was cold in my garage so i had to keep it shut with a heater in it and i didnt have a mask on

o well heres what i got so far, it doesnt have clearcoat yet

1st problem, you didnt sand.
2nd problem, you didnt prime.
3rd problem, you painted the black over the green.
4th problem it looks major orange peel...
Host some bigger pictures..

BigAl2828
Jan 16 2007, 11:53 AM

I can vouch for that. When it comes to case modding, patience is a virtue....
But we all learn from our mistakes......The next one u do will be 1000% better......
