Son was playing 360 today and it just went off after about 5mins and had 2 red lights (1-3). Just flashed it to 5.2c and installed cable extensions so I wouldn't haven't to open the case to flash again. All worked fine and he has played if for alot longer than this with no problems except for today. I took out the extensions, swapped games and still does the same thing. Fans are working fine and it won't shut off unless there is a game in the drive. I let it set at the dashboard for 20 mins with no problem. I read the faq and the only other topic like mine I got in search was he got a blue screen and shit. My 360 just shuts off and I need it fixed asap or my son is going to die.

could it be a wrong flash?
if you have your original key try taking it back to the factory firmware.
or did you just update the 360.

nah, I updated it about 2 weeks ago or so and it's 5.1 firmware. Read here and several other places that is those lights are on that it is overheating but I don't see how it could over heat now so soon when it has went up to an hour at a time with no problem

Believe I have found the problem. I don't have but 1 fan working. Is it supposed to be like this and the other one starts when it gets to a certain temp or are both supposed to work all the time? The one closest to the power cable doesn't come on

On initial start up, they both definitely spin, not sure about during dvd playback
