Hi, I have connected the 2 wires and a switch to the points where i removed the resistor from on the dvd controller board. After connecting the switch i checked with my multimeter that connections where good and switch was working, it checked out to be fine with multimeter so i moved on to try and flash it.

When running mtkflash it either stops with no drive detected or it will detect drive then when i pick pri master it stops with port : ef00, master/slave : ao. The when i push ESC it says status = 01 should be 70, (sometimes i also get status 00 and 51) (have also tryed selecting Pri slave with same results).

after trying for a couple of days i have put the xbox back togeather leaving the wires and switch in place with the switch turned on and it still boots original games and works ok.

This is a link to my motherboard on the Abit website :

http://www2.abit.com.tw/page/uk/motherboar...pMODEL_NAME=IL8

It has an Intel ICH7 sata chipset, and i have read loads of posts from people saying that they have got the ICH7 to work with an edited mtkflash so i cannot figure out why it wont work for me.

Xtream boot maker, when i click detect I/O it gives an error saying that it is not compatible with mtkflash. So i ran MSINFO32 because i was going to manually edit mtkflash for my chipset. But when i goto componants/storage/SCSI it is empty? I had a look in the IDE section and found my sata in there? but this is what it say's :

Name Intel® 82801G (ICH7 Family) Ultra ATA Storage Controllers - 27DF
Manufacturer Intel
Status OK
PNP Device ID PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_27DF&SUBSYS_106F147B&REV_01\3&2411E6FE&0&F9
I/O Port 0x0000FB00-0x0000FB0F
Driver c:\windows\system32\drivers\pciide.sys (5.1.2600.0 (XPClient.010817-1148), 3.25 KB (3,328 bytes), 04/08/2004 13:00)

In the tutorials for editing mtkflash it shows more that 1 line for I/O Port and you are supposed to use the values from 2 I/O Port lines.

What can i do to make this sata chipset work? Other people have said that it has worked for them so why wont mine?

I also went to pc world and bought 1 of there sata cards but when i got it home i found it has a silicon image chipset and they are reported by most people not to work and when i tryed to flash with it it gave the exact same problems in mtkflash (Status 01) even after using Xtream boot maker to make my custom mtkflash. I would really rather not have to buy another sata card when other people have got the ICH7 working.

If there is any info i have missed that would be helpful in finding the problem let me know and i'll try and post it.

Any help with this would be great. Thanks.

I don't know but it looks like your saying that your trying to flash your drive with the VCC switch set to on. You actually have to have the switch set to off initially and then switch to on just before you're ready to flash the drive.

This could be why it's hanging when you try and flash it.

Check page 38 of Textbook's latest tutorial for clarification on the complete method. You can download it HERE. Just right click on the link and choose save as

I hope this helps
