I'm looking for a replacement samsung or hitachi drive. I found several on ebay that have come out of a 360's getting the 3 red lights. From what I can tell it might be ok as most people are saying 3 red light is a heating issue. I would hate to get ripped off. What do you guys think?

I have heard also that but a lot of people talk about trying to fix heat isssues when they get the 3 red lights. I ask the guy how he knew the drive was not bad and here was the reply I got:

"The xbox was still functioning once in a while, the dvd drive didn't have any problems when system booted up. The heat gun fix was attempted on the 360 and worked for a couple days. It was the video gpu solder points that went bad in the xbox."

Makes sense. I'd say go for it! You do know you can't just swap drives from xbox to xbox, right?

Yeah I have the drive key from my current hitachi and that drive is a samsung. I have never actually done it but I have read that it should not be a problem. Thanks for you help guys! biggrin.gif

I need to insert drive key right from original drive into new drive? From what I have read that should be it though. Is that correct or am I missing something?
