I've been reading a lot about the Samsung drive and the SATA -> USB converter. Apparently it can't be done because of the USB drives in DOS are not supported. According to the tutorials I've read so far DOS is only needed to flash the DVD Rom with the new Firm Ware. Once that is done you don't really need DOS anymore to make Back Ups. If that's the case then I could flash the DVD Rom with the SATA port on my Desktop PC and then use an SATA -> USB adapter with my laptop to create the back ups.

My PC and XBOX are not right next to each other and dismantelling the video cables from inside the wall (Flat Screen LCD TV) and moving the XBOX next to the PC is a PITA. While moving the laptop is very easy.

What do you guys think? Would that work or did i miss something on the tutorials?
