PS3 Steering Wheel Force Feedback Works!

I just got Need for Speed: Carbon for the PS3. I put in the disc, booted up the game, selected "Quick Race", and started playing with my Driving Force Pro. What did I notice?

Force Feedback!

Remember, earlier this month, when waves of web sites reported that the PS3 was uncapable of doing force feedback, even with third party steering wheels? Apparently, testing this out wasn't hard at all, and this rumor is completely, 100%, categorically untrue.

Nice, this is a good deal for PS3 fans with racing wheels.

I'm sure Sony will argue this is because the gyroscopic features are required in race wheels.

Even good news is egg on Sony's face...

They were the ones who went out of their way to say that force feedback wheels wouldn't work on the PS3: http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3156211

Either:
a) The racing wheel generates its own feedback from independantly-developed technologies.

cool.gif The PS3 is broadcasting the same force-feedback signal Sony's still litigating in the courts, potentially making PS3 illegal to sell due to its support for copyright infringement.

It'll be interesting to find out which it is.

I think it may be like Carbon on the 360, i played that a little with the 360's FF wheel, whilst there was force feedback, it wasn't true.

It was more than rumble but not quite as good as playing PGR with the FF.
